Or are the SMG and Scrambler Pistol all we are getting?
wish we had more choices for sidearms. |

regarding SMGs - crap for range. crap for damage unless you are literally right on top of an enemy.
ugh, i hate these things so much. but they are all I can use when I am holding a swarm launcher.
I'm obviously not doing SMGs right. but to me, they suck ass. please tell me it gets better when i skill up the smg skillbooks. |

Ludvig Enraga wrote:I say he has a valid concern. As is players are disincetivized from using AV weapons because there is not not enough team work. If you are running solo, and lets face it - at this point of beta this is 90% of us out there, you just can't afford to play in AV role as it leaves you completely exposed to infantry with nothing to defend yourself with. SMG in this build is a joke, but used to hold its own in the past build, though. If SMG had a moderate boost to range and spread, the problem would be sold. I would say SMG should be effective out to 20m or about 60ft - it's not too far to get into the range of primary weapons and would make it usable.
yeah not looking for a super-killer weapon. just a decent personal defense weapon.
I understand that I will die to Infantry at range. |

Laurent Cazaderon wrote:Scrambler pistol is my favorite. SMG feels a bit too much like pray and spray for me.
But the gun ? well used it's a real *****. Especially with the new skill operation that adds 1 ammo per clip per level. Two levels and you have 8 ammo firing something like 80 to a hundred damage.
Killed a lot of people with it and my swarm launcher. ]
I'm trying out the Pistol now. Thing hits pretty hard for a pistol. Need some practice on the aiming though. I'll get it with time. i find I do better if I shoot slowly with the pistol, but my natural instinct is to spam the fire button. gotta break out of that.
either way, I'm asking about Variety, moreso than effectiveness. there's only 2 types of sidearm. wondering if there would be any more.
deleted the rest of your response, cause it was irrelevant to the discussion at hand, and incredibly douchebag-ish. |

Laurent Cazaderon wrote:In time there will. Like in EVE, expansions will brought new guns, vehicles and such.
my reason for asking is because normally in shooters, Sidearms are neglected and not developed cause nobody really uses them. there's usually no need. Pistols and such are usually just "last resot if you are out of ammo for everything else" weapons that nobody seriously expects to get a kill with.
however, for AVs it happens to be essential, in this game at least. so hopefully the sidearms are developed as much as the regular weapons are.

Laurent Cazaderon wrote:My advice would be, play AV when needed. As in, supply depots are maybe the most valuable assets in the game, way as usefull as CRU imo. Allows you to just draw AV fit when needed and go back to a more versatile fit quickly. Shame most ambush maps dont have even one of those depot
I find it just my luck that as soon as I switch out to an Anti-Infantry fitting and get going, I gotta run right back to the supply depot cause a bunch of balochs start running around, and I am usually one of the few(if not the only) AV Primaries on the team. (everyone else just uses the Anti-Armor starter fit when needed) lol. YMMV though, my luck is terrible. |
