I'm honestly trying to enjoy this game, but I must admit it's hard now. This build is bland. Tasteless. Sure, you can say that last build was all ballerinas. But ballet is better than this. Check any Euro gamer preview, and they say its bland and nothing special. We don't need a cover friendly, first to look/kill, game. There's tons of those out there. Last build, and replication, even E3 were unique. We don't need this. We need Dust.
Also, this is my fourth character this build. I built up a cool Assault fit and kicked ass, but realized I wasn't having fun, and made new ones just to find something unique using the Starter SP. I was disappointed. I realize it's a beta, so I'm trying to give feedback.
Edit: Also, what is up with the nerds/buffs at the same time? If you nerf one thing, do not buff its counterpart... |

Slower movement doesn't make the game more skill based or tactical Kefka. The movement we currently have is like Call of Duty, which obviously is a VERY tactical and kill based shooter right? It's not fast paced at all./sarcasm.
People here speak from experience. CCP's first idea was to make starting and overall movement speeds much higher. Hence, the stamina bar, which is barely used now. People cried and whined, and they reduced it to this crap. If you'd played the older builds, you would know. |

However, here we are 7 months later and this game has went to complete ****. CCP needs to stop adding more crap to this game and iron out the fundamentals, or this game will almost certainly be dead on arrival. As much as I don't want to, I kind of agree. At first, the game play was consistent, but completely changing game mechanics was unneeded. I don't mind new stuff, I encourage the enhancements. But get rid of core game play issues, then focus on moving forward. |

2 or 3 players setting up a good zone of fire can always take down any super adhd, twitch, jump, and strafe super kid no matter how fast they can strafe, jump, mid air turn and fire their weapon all at the same time. Even if the game allowed you to do cartwheels, though it might look silly, again, it wouldn't take away from the strategic elements that are already in the game.
What they have done with this build is remove one entire aspect of game play (though anathema to some players) that wasn't competing or with or taking away from any other. The game used to be a little more upbeat and stupid. Now it just seems slow and stupid. Stupid in that the vast majority of players aren't really evolving strategies beyond "Win with overwhelming force!". That takes time to develop, though, and meanwhileGǪ game is too slow.
However, if they had to slow down the strafe speed to improve hit detection and compensate for lag that is another thing entirely. If that is the case then it would be worthwhile to see if it is possible to uncoupled hit detection from strafing speed so that hit detection remains constant and strafing speed can be adjusted.
Exactly. The fact that there are corps, grouping, hundreds of different suit combinations etc. All of these play into the tactical part. Not many people are having "fun" with the new build. |

Buff strafe speeds back to replication status. That summarizes the arguments of all lone wolfers crying out loud at the moment as they feel they won't get their kicks and high kdr's WITHOUT TEAMPLAY. To each and every one of you wanting strafe buff and power into their personal hands: Sorry, having small scale battle lines and fronts of infantry making a break into each other is not your 'boring campfest'. Replication was Dust at it's weakest with majority of mid-close encounters degenerating into turn&burn fights with reload speed competition (no matter what hit detection is). high strafe speeds make it too easy to dodge, especially when combined with the fact that dust suits have shields and stuff.
In this build, the first person to see an enemy has a guaranteed kill, unless the other person has an exponentially better suit and a lot of luck. That isn't what it should come out to. Replication, if I had the skill, I could help my team out, but other than personal gain, I wouldn't win. This build, it's not fun for solo players (and yes, we need them, not everyone plays as a team) or team players. I haven't ever seen 1 militia guy take out 2 other guys at once, no matter what his skill.
This isn't trench warfare. It's not meant to be. If you see any Dust interview, they explain it as fast-paced, moment-to-moment gameplay (I see you David Ried), and that type of gameplay has deteriorated over the builds. There have been 2 massive nerfs to movement speed. The first left a bad taste in the mouth. Second was never asked for, or needed.
Also, Longwood has a great thread that could work. |
