I keep getting these emails telling me i can buy a merc pack for $20, when it actually costs $30, it has to stop or CCP will get into all sorts of Legal problems.
Im sure there are different laws in various countries that cover this area, but basically you cant deceive people in order to lure them to your place of business.
If sony has the legal right to charge as much as they want for CCP's goods, then it means CCP has to co-operate with sont in any advertising so as the pricing can be set correctly. Or tell people to check the price online, or market it as a percentage of original price (if sony will let CCP do that).
Not all bugs are technical, please treat this seriously and pass this on to your MARKETING and LEGAL people. |

For reference i found a link for Misleading and Deceptive Conduct acording to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commision (ACCC).
In particular "t makes no difference whether the business intended to mislead or deceive youGÇöit is how the conduct of the business affected your thoughts and beliefs that matters."
"There are also special laws relevant to price advertising and promotions. A business risks breaching the law if it: - represents that an advertised price is the total price that you will have to pay when in fact it is not"
"What can the ACCC do? While we use enforcement action to obtain compliance, our preferred option is to show businesses how to take preventative steps to ensure that contraventions do not occur." |

I'm pretty sure this has been an issue for most countries since they changed the price.
Seems US guys had zero price change and all the other countries got a price hike for exactly the same thing.
Personally I'm not buying anything from CCP until after release now, they keep moving the goal posts which is out of order if you ask me. Besides the fact that in it's current state the 30 day booster is totally useless. |

Its ironic that the AUD > USD (about 1.05 transaction rate) yet we pay so much more for the merc packs. Not sure exactly why Sony/CCP sees its ok to screw over Aus players, but they definitely can't claim its due to currency values. If that were the case we would be looking at more around the $18-19 mark. |

Whatever the case, I think a simple adjustment to the advertisement that including currency would be sufficient. One can generally assume that a denomination of currency such as USD is intended to be understood as being the price in that Country. Regardless, it should be the price in that currency after appropriate exchange rates are applied.
Heck, the value of the currency GAS here, actually changes from town to town, with no less or more than 20km from one to another in some cases. 1.14/L here, and 1.20/L there; from home to work for me. Sadly, I filled my tank at 1.29-here-just the other day. |

It only cost me $19.99 for the merc pack. You sure the emails are legit? Or perhaps it's talking about a different merc pack? |

Us Australians are paying (if I recall correctly) $29.95 AUD. FYI, AUD when I purchased mine had a 1.05 exchange rate - as in AUD is worth more than USD.
And it is the same merc pack. |

It is $19.99 USD. In the USA if your sales office is not local or your shop is internet based and you dont have a warehouse, you dont pay any state taxes. With that said if you live in the US and buy the merc pack its always $19.99 USD.
However in different countries you pay different taxes. That with the conversion system and your local and state taxes will add on to the cost!

I've heard that Australia gets the shaft on many electronics and digital items. Internet and gaming is super expensive there. I know Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails got ticked off that his CD sold there for 40+ dollars because of his label so he decided to release his next CD for free on his website. You can also buy a copy if you'd like. |

Check your exchange rates & currency conversion charges with your bank - merc pack still costs 19.99 here in the US, localization costs (particularly to Australia) are hideous across the board - almost like the manufacturers are passing a tariff to the customer........ |
