im getting killed by ARs, SRs, and the occasional Sub. oh and i found that those are the only weapons that are actaully useful, some proper kick to ARs that cause the gun to go wild when you fire in countiuos streams, and makes hipfire more inaccuract and random perfect for CQC.
a side arm crossbow, light battlerifle(scrambler rifle?), a side arm mortor, a side arm nova sword, and maybe some more scifi like weapons would be cool, a railgun Light machine gun or a lightning gun could add to the game. but yeah reduce the Master of all AR to a jack of all weapon. kick thats hard to control would be go along way. |

AR does need kick, but hipfire accuracy should not be decreased at all. I love being able to hipfire accurately in shooters, and not many shooters let me do this anymore, aiming down sight isn't nearly as fun.
You might want to try the laser rifle, and the forge gun.
About a crossbow: Even the most modern and high tech bows and crossbows today are still way behind in power and accuracy compared to modern firearms. The guns we have are even more advanced than anything we have on Earth right now also. I don't see why anyone can make a crossbow, when they can propel the projectile from some kind of gun instead because of the power, accuracy, and advantages like not having to reload after one shot.
Scrambler rifle: We don't know when its coming or how it will work, but this weapon is CONFIRMED to be coming. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=297926#post297926 Scroll down to weapons.
Nova sword: I don't see the point when you already have sidearm dual nova knives.
Sidearm mortar: Something called the flaylock pistol is coming, I don't know when or how it will work, but someone told me it would fire explosive rounds, could be close to what you have in mind.
LMG railgun: There is a railgun assault rifle coming, Its not an LMG, but it does have 60 rounds like the current assault rifle (60 rounds usually qualifies as an LMG in most games). Watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpJQjwKs6Kg We already have railguns in the game, sniper rifles, and the forge gun. The forge gun is very flashy, powerful, and scifi; put on a heavy dropsuit and give it a try. |

but we have a knife, a knife going up agaisnt these same weapons. and if the technology for everything else including knifes as come so far the a sizable damage, complete silent, mid range weapon would also improve right along with everything else.
space wire that thriples the force of the bolt, having the bolt nova tipped, etc you could find any number of sci fi reason to make it on par with other stuff.
oh and about the sword longer reach bit more damage would be useful |

A "space wire" tripling the force of a bolt still doesn't make sense. In this world, we use things like railguns. In real life right now, railguns can fire a projectile at nearly Mach 8. Railgun projectiles can travel up to Mach 20, it means that Railgun projectiles can travel 20 times faster than the speed of sound. This game takes place thousands of years from now where the technology is undoubtedly vastly improved. The "space wire" would not even surpass the force of a regular firearm. The most low tech weapons are regular projectile bullets like the SMG and heavy machine gun.
Seriously, launching a projectile using string? To take down people wearing insanely powerful energy shielded armor that can survive railgun, plasma, and regular projectile hits?
Why not just ask for a semi automatic silent bolt gun? If you're looking for the evolution of the crossbow, this is probably the best plausible thing. |

Agreed the weapons available are pretty dull, only the laser and Forge Gun actually feel like future weapons. Though I'm not sure on your solutions. I think just changing the look, feel and sound of available weapons would help to make the game seem like its actually in the distant future. |

I do agree the current weapons are kind of boring as well. |

dont care if its called a crossbow just needs to function similarly good damage, silent, medium range, slow reload dont care whats its called or how it works just give me one. |

Cut the ARs clip by x, add damage to a factor of y where y makes the new clipsize do less damage in total than a full current AR, and I'm sure we will see more diversification to avoid the repeated reloading getting you killed in close quarters. Plus the extra damage and less clip would make people attempt burst fire, so win-win there :D |
