So i decided to finally make a tank char this build an was just wanting to know a good tank setup. An which is better shield tanking or armor? I've read a few old post of some loadouts but i figured people are probably using def stuff this build maybe. Any help would be much appreciated |

Try out with militia tanks and see which you like better. I like 5500armour militia tanks with militia repper myself, but I LOVED Sicas for 2 whole builds. |

Also depends on what range you want to fight at, the Sica is better at longer ranges i think. |

That depends on where you will be fighting;
I currenty run a Madrugar and my 310,000 ISK fitting is :
2 supplemental shield extenders 2 ST-1 small missile turrets 1 80GJ Blaster 1 120mm Reinforced Steel Plates 1 Millitia Energized Plating 1 Millitia CPU enhancer 1 Millitia Armor Repair Unit So the stats are : Shield HP: 2070 Armor HP:4549 Shield Regen:8.7 |

this is a bad set up for a Madrugar, it will melt infront of another tank fof sure

Something Non-EVE players will eventually learn is that Dual Tank = fail. It may seem logical "Hey I have higher shields AND armor, that must be better. Right?" But the reality is that you're almost always better to pick a tank (armor or shield (or hull, HA)) and then use the other slots to supplement your tank, DPS, etc with the other slots.
As for your original question, I have no clue, I can't afford tanks. :) |

Shield is faster and better against SL in general but weak against forge guns
Armor is slower but better against forge guns weaker against SL
Since WBS have now been fixed the tank now just has to worry about SL mainly tbh so now they can be used a little bit more
I use the gunlogi and have lost prob around 10 of em at least, i do prefer shield since i can move faster but once its gone your dead, armor your okay but your relying on your last line of defense and you cant GTFO either as fast
The prop mods dont work either i havnt noitced any speed increase except when using nanofibers
Active shield harderners are iffy, sometimes i can do well with them but a sustained period of SL keep coming at you they will get through while your cooling down and if you get hit without one activated it hurts and ive lost a few because the framerate drops to one and the next thing i know im down past half shield because a SL hit me when i couldnt do anything about it
Milita tanks are okay but easy to destroy, dont really bother with them since the next tank up is so much better in general

I've not seen any evidence that Forge guns work better VS Shields or SW VS armor. Till I see a blue post to that effect or get to test it myself when I hit Forge gun I'll keep calling BS on it.
Armor plates DON'T reduce top speed, they increase MASS and that lowers acceleration. This makes Shield more MOBILE NOT FASTER. Plates have a wider array of fitting options so you can squeeze the most out of your fit and give roughly 150% the HP of an equivalent Shield extender. Nano Fibers reduce your armor HP by a % but do boost top speed though they don't lower mass so acceleration won't increase.
Active shield hardeners can be used to keep a very nice tank up comparable to the old hardeners if you use three and cycle two of them so two are always on with one turning on as one enters cool down. This will eat up lots of time and make actually driving the tank hard though.
Currently you can spam AV nades from a nanohive and they will stay there waiting for vehicles for the whole match without despawning either over time or for there begin too many out.
DO bother with militia tanks do you can figure out your play style now rather then after your bought a million isk skill book and dumped several tens of thousands of SP into getting level 1 of that skill. |

If you hover over a target you'll get some information including an "efficiency" rating. I forget if this rating includes resistances or not. I know that by testing it with a missile turret on an installation I got 69% efficiency against shields and 129% efficiency against armor. You can test forge guns and swarms the same way. |

shields are better for weapons that are using explosives (swarms, av grenades) but weak against forgeguns and flux grenades. But because there are only a few forgegunners out there shields are better and you can put shield hardeners on them aswell which can give you a 30% resistance for 10 secs. That might be that much time but in a tank vs tank fight it gives you the upper hand. Oh and blasters/railguns go into the category of hybrid weapons which are equally effective against armor and shields. Example: Large missile turret against a armor tank= 129% efficency (this only opos up when the tanks shield is on 0!) Large missile turret against a shield tank= 69% efficency And so on the only thing that annoys me is that there is no turret for tanks at the moment that have the same impact on shields. The only thing that would equally be aible to do that would be a large laser turret which is not out yet. |

thx for the help everyone i think i'm going to try out shield tanking. i'm probably going to die alot an lose alot of isk but oh well should be fun. If anyone gots a good gunlogi loadout they would like to share it would be most appreciated if not i'll just mess around n figure something out from the info u guys gave me |
