Competition motivates quite a few gamers and I've had an idea regarding rivalries in Dust 514
Include in the Match Wrapup page two in points of into, who you killed most and who killed you most. Give the Mercs a name for who thwarted them most during a game (just because a bounty system isn't as mechanically feasible for Dust doesn't mean Mercs should be any less hunted in New Eden than Pod Jockeys)
EDIT: Also include who you cost the most ISK (and how much), who cost you the most ISK (and how much) and add Corp/Alliance tags to the killfeed.
On the character information sheet you could also include the Alliance/Corp which has cost you the greatest loss of ISK.

Additional: Add "vengeance" kills to the kill feed. (i.e. when hostile X kills your squad mate and you kills hostile X within Y time you get a 'vengeance kill') In addition to the kill feed such kills could also give a small WP reward (such as 2-5 WP, possibly with a capping mechanic if it's deemed gains from this token award are somehow too high). |

Raven Tesio wrote:It sound like you are suggesting something similar to Halo's After-Battle Reports, where you have the overview screen; but then you can flick on to individual players and see details from that game.
I quite like that concept as well, something that is annoyingly missing from almost every other FPS. With the Game Metrics that CCP store, they're not just saving who & what killed you but also who provided assistance what you were using and even where you were on the map.
There are alot of things they can provide us with that data in a semi-verbose way post game. Wouldn't mind seeing for example a Battle Report screen (perhaps on the Character Sheet) that you can see all your post-game reports.. along with an API that can be used outside for Corporations to have their own DUST Killboards (like you get with EVE)
As for hunting them down ala Bounty System, as I understand it from Fanfest; there will be an "Arena" mode where you can challenge Corporations, Squads or Individuals to a more scaled down and competitive combat. If they can add wagers (kinda like how corp contracts work) then think it would work really well for settling differences.
I haven't actually played Halo multilayer (unless you count playing split screen on the first Halo with no net connection) but that sounds like the same idea
More details and more of a sanguine aspect to the game (and I am really looking forward to the release of the Dust API. A big Thank You to CCP for confirming they'll be using the same API system for Dust and EVE once the game is live).
Thanks for the response and the additional information (I hadn't heard about the Arena mode) Cross |

Thanks for the responses so far
With the tournament coming up I'm pushing this back to the top because especially for tournament matches (and honestly for their training lead up as well) more match details would be quite valuable. |

It might also have a synthesis well with things like Tournaments and Corp battles :) |

We could also add a third, possible even more relevant, point to the above as well.
ISK Loss inflected or Greatest ISK loss inflected by ____
This would also have the added tactical benefit of letting you know who in Dust slagged your super HAV, popped your Dropship, or burned through seven of your pure proto fits. There by not only increasing the 'grudge factor' but also letting players know who's really costing them, it might not bee who you think and if true wouldn't that be interesting to find out? :)
Cheers, Cross
Additional: Listings for the above which include weapon type would also be great. Knowing what you kill with, and die because of, most often is a valuable learning tool.

You are correct that this could be used by griefers. I'm not sure however if it would actually increase the amount of grief play. Rather it seems to me that players inclined to that sort of play will play in that manner regardless of the metrics we have available to us, and as such we may as well proceed.

J'Jor Da'Wg wrote:+1. Metrics are great. Also, corp tags being visible in the killfeed and player list would increase corp rivalries... I like it, adding it to the OP.
