I know, this topic has been done to death. A lot of us like the idea. A lot of us dislike the idea.
Grouping right now, with just 4 people on 16v16 maps is okay but if CCP plans on moving to 32v32 or more players like they said at launch than it wont be enough, Players will spend more time q-syncing with their friends for those bigger player vs player maps instead of actually playing on them. Have little group sizes is good for solo players, those that just have a few friends or those that just want to play the 16v16 player maps
So I wanted to suggest this idea. Maybe make some kind of corp group or something. Something that only those in a corporation can use. Sure a lot of players will start saying "zerg zerg zerg" but at the same time, it'll make the game more enjoyable for those that want to play with more than just 4 of their friends at once.
Personally to me, I'd rather depend one people I know and that know how to play instead of depending on randoms that tend to not know how to play at all. That is just my stand point on it. Each and everyone has their own opinion why they think that there should be bigger group sizes. Some what bigger group sizes to socialize more, others for depending on teammates. Anyways CCP should consider upping the group size count. |

Please think about squads vs random balance. That's the main issue with increasing squad size. There is a corp battles for members of a corp. |

Also remember, bigger group sizes means more randoms grouping up. Also isn't corp battle groups suppose to be for corp vs corp. If that is the case, what about the corps that just wanna play random games instead of having to play corps battles all day long in order to group up with more than 4 friends? |

Randoms don't group up independent of squad size. Yet again, bigger group size is unfair to random people. Yes, that's unfair for corps that want to have 8 mercs in a squad and farm random "pigs". It's sad, but you can't make everyone happy. That's called balance - everyone should be equally pissed off (or happy). |

I thank it should be there because as of right now all a corp has to do is all press the battle button, they still have a likely chance to be in the same battle any ways. |

With increased players popularity it will be harder to do so. However, yes, CPP needs to think about it and try to find a solution to prevent it. |

I have to admit that we are a lots of players in my corp, so I never have to play alone (from morning until late night, we have all hours players).
BUT, sometimes I launch it alone, and I try to be squad leader, and show to newbies how it's suppose to work. You put a defend order on a mate, and when they kill they say : "wow, kitten !!! I made 125 WP with this kill... What happened ?" then they have a thought and try to understand why, then do the same in another game, and we're all going forward.
Don't forget that we are not suppose to be fully deployed in high-sec. Or new players won't have any chance to enjoy the game. But, as a MAG player, I undestand what you want |

Not really as a MAG thing related. More or less, there is so many already in our alliance on at once, sometimes a lot of the people end up having to solo. Simply enough, CCP should add a corps group. Something that has more room than a normal squad for corps members only and lets you join ether corps matches or normal matches. |

With skills system, you can't apply this here, as pure as was MAG. And as a F2P, you need to make balance. In MAG, 16 players deploy in a 128vs128 game make the difference, but newbies can still have fun.
Today, deploy 16 team members on the same side vs randoms, you going redline in few minutes, and no one will have fun.
And personnaly, no one si playing alone in WTF, or he really want it. In the evening, we can be 20 connected, and I'm like you, I can't wait to be fully deploy... |

CCP has already made a balancing program that works with skills, etc. - they have yet to define it - saying that they will try to make the game more balanced. Meaning: teamwork or not you will be battling similarly leveled people.
AND who says teamwork = winning? How many nations throughout history have joined together to battle their attackers and lost? too many to count - ask the persians, greeks, Allexander the Great, Attila the Hun, the dynasties of China, the native Americans, Syrians, Egyptians, and on and on and on. Team work does not equal victory. And along the same lines neither does power.
But in games the number of players do make a difference. On a small map against all randoms a solid wall of coordinated players may win... but do we have that? NO, so how can anyone claim this position?
How about a 4 man squad of highly skilled players dominating the map... No.
Redlining happens because the skill/luck/situation/position of the other team is greater than the other. I have played against noobs, randoms, and corps with about the same level of win/loss ratio in this game (this game is still unbalanced). In other games where we ran a solid 8 man squad or even a 16 person unit we did win more that we lost - but that also gave birth to ingenuity by players who were soloing or people that only had a 2 or 3 man group (or women). Their small party would sneak behind, take up a position here or there to outflank our group. Or take a large part of their force and double it up on one objective or another.
Games find a balance. Here we do not yet have it. The maps need some serious rebalancing and we have yet to see many of the skills and technology promised - like cloaking, webbing, miasma grenades, etc.
Ingenuity and creativity wins against positioned teamwork. and sometimes that lone soldier can take a letter or point or two because he is alone and has built his character that way. Noobs, randoms, etc. will all find their way, they always have, no need to always cater to us/them. |
