Are most people understanding how to get new items, or customizing fittings, and how getting new skills work, etc? I have never seen an NDA-breaking vid on youtube in which people bothered to use anything besides the starter fits, even after the new build's tutorial. I worried about what percentage of the game's population is ignorant of these things as well. |

Wait, so because of the idiots who post on Youtube are using militia fits (starter) you assume everyone is using starter fits all the time..

I think a lot of people actually are using starter fits all the time, as it allows you to save up ISK, and they are decently effective in most situations. I know I use them frequently. |

I tell you one thing. If CCP doesn't get their act together, and at least open the BETA before 11/13, there will be a lot less people playing DUST. 1 month. It seems a lot needs to be done in 1 month. But when BO2 comes out the pool of players that could be playing dust is going to diminish quickly.
I would love the NDA to be lifted so we can post videos and get our members who dont have access in to it. I've asked for that intro video we see when we log on to dust to be made public so i can post that in a few places, but i havent heard back on it. |

Those COD players can go back to COD when BO2 comes out. |

Are you talking about the cinematic one before you even select your character? If you are, I'm pretty sure it's already public. I think they played that at the end of EVE fanfest this year. |

I have to concur with Deadpool here. The people breaking the NDA are very likely stupid, and as a result they probably aren't doing well to invest in the game.
Just ignore them, as soon as the NDA lifts, skilled people will release videos and people will see the world of difference that a mild skill/isk investment brings. |

Stupid enough to set up YouTube accounts, do a bit of video editing, this that the other. I'm sure they're capable of changing fit. They just don't care because they want to show off that they have beta access. Currently :P |

I considered that actually, but for all we know only a small percent of people actually read the NDA. The ones that post might just be the ones with the right video capture equipment, and the ones who care enough to post. Just because most people don't post it on YouTube doesn't mean most people aren't that dumb or ignorant.
Did I say I was assuming most people don't get it? I was asking a question, not making an assumption. |

I'm using nothing but start fits until I get enough isk to buy all the skillbooks I need, so I can make myself somewhat competent at the game and can afford to lose isk on some expensive bling. |

With the amount of new tutorials how can you not get what to do? They have made it really easy for anyone with half a brain to get how to play, change gear and weapons. If they can't get it from that, asking questions in game, making friends and asking them or heck posting on the forums, then they need to play a different game, might I suggest COD...
I know you are trying to help, but this is just one of those assumed things in this game, get what you are doing or don't and die fast. If you are dying that much, you wont stick with the game. |

Wait, maybe you just wrote this wrong, but you are saving your ISK to buy all of your books first?
But you are using SP's now and spending a little bit on those most basic of books right? (crosses fingers).. |

teaching those who dont know is the best solution! theres always those in local who ask questions if the learning curve is that bad that ppl get scared away because theres alot to take in then this isnt the game for them.
thats why theres game like farmville, angry birds, and COD. |

No, I am buying the books, saving all the sp and isk, then, when I have a million of each, shall buff all those skills and kit myself out in the most righteous of armour loaded with the most deadliest of weapons that I will suddenly elevate myself to the level of Absolute Badass!

Ok, its your game but I would advise you to get the most basics out of the way, it wont matter what suit or weapon you get if you dont: Mechanics, Weaponary, electronics, engineering.
Its cool to get a proto suit and all, but if you don't have the most basic of skills already it wont matter. Also its much, much easier to get more SP's each match if you have a decent guy already. |

the problem is that in this build, a good amount of people are struggling to keep up the ISK(without WP farming) to maintain advanced fittings AND train skills at the same time, and thusly are using full militia fittings in order to get the skills trained up before they start buying equipment.
it was easier to keep the ISK up when the Militia Gear was permanent and Isk gain was higher. |

I have the same worry Kagehoshi. I think we can all point to articles written by the gaming 'press' that don't get it either. They play the game for a few hours, can't connect the dots on their own in that time, obviously don't talk to the beta testers, and then write and post an article about the 'classes' in the game and loadouts.
CCP has the same concern, the opening tutorial and infographics in this build are a testament to that.
I am willing to bet that there are thousands of peeps out there who played the DUST 514 beta and never had a clue. It's not because they're dense, it's because the only thing they have to measure this strange beast by is other shooters. CoD, battlefield, MW, even MAG are all lambs. DUST is a wolf dressed up as a lamb.
Still, if a lamb is what you're expecting to see, a lamb is what you will see, especially from a distance. |
