More graphics? You must be desperate to play with low framerate... |

I wonder if my lack of some of these issues I read about is because I have the first release model with all the original hard/firm ware. Well it's original except where I've changed out the 40GB HDD with a 160GB HDD. |

Jak Teston wrote:I'd accept a reduction of 50% in poly-count and texture resolution if it increased the framerate by 10%, honestly.
Imagine trying to be competitive at Counterstrike while running at 30 fps. You'd might as well send the mouse-input by mail at that rate.
30 FPS (.03 Seconds per frame) isn't bad when one considers that the average human perception + reaction time is .2 to .25 of a second Trained professional fighters, and others professionals, who rely on perception + reaction speeds have been known to get that down to as little as .16 seconds. |

If CCP wasn't releasing trailers with tons of **** on screen and great graphics, I would say ok. But they are, and that tells me that they're going for both. It's 2012, PS3 is basically EOL. Push the system to the limits, hell the systems are 250gb now, give me a 40gb download if you have to.
I do feel sorry for anyone with a sub par internet connection...my suggestion is to go wired, nice and tight.
Gameplay is equal with graphics. Both should be great! The 250GB is not memory. It's only storage space on the hard drive. The current PS3 CPU/GPU/VRAM/RAM specs as follows. CPU speed 3.2 GHz CPU cores 7 GPU speed 550 MHz Video 256MB GDDR3 VRAM System 256MB XDR Main RAM Also consider the data transfer rate of the hard drive. The more there is to load, the longer it will take to load. And considering that CCP only has 256MB of dedicated video, and 256MB shared memory, they're doing pretty good. The default hard drive is usually 5400 RPM. To cut down loading time get a 7200 RPM or solid state hard drive. Just make sure it's a laptop/notebook hard drive 9.5mm thick or it won't fit the hard drive cradle. Or, perhaps I misunderstood your implication. In which case, this might just be a useful information post.
Yes, you misinterpreted. I'm saying if CCP needs to make a huge file size for us to download to have somewhat of an equilibrium, who cares because there's a TON more HD storage space than on my old 80gb PS3.

My apologies. But a bigger HDD isn't a reason to by a new PS3. It's easy enough to change out a HDD on one's existing system. The instructions are in the manual and on the Sony website. |

CCP in house machine has 4 gigs of video memory and 24+ gigs of system memory the last time I read about them and they keep this monster up to date usually.
PS3 only has 256 mbs for video and 256 mb for system.
The trick is getting the stuff rendered on the art machine to work on a 256 mb system or even lower if possible. This is the job of technical artist. |
