So, I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one that experiences the severely low Y-axis sensitivity when using KBM, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that hates it. So, I fixed it. Unfortunately, this fix is only going to work for those that can adjust their X and Y DPI separately. The fix is a bit rough, and it's going to take some effort on your part, but I assure you, it's worth it.
I'm using the Logitech G700, and I discovered that using the Logitech SetPoint options, I can customize my DPI. Obviously, you're going to want to use the proper brand software for your mouse, ie. if you're using a Razer mouse, you'll want to use Razer software, not Logitech.
What I found, is that if I set the Y-axis DPI about 2500 DPI higher than the X-axis, the aiming feels much more natural, although if my mouse allowed for a higher DPI cap than 5700, I would probably push the Y-axis as high as 6500, while leaving the X-axis right around 2500-3000. I would suggest setting X at 3000 and Y at 5500 to begin with, and tweak it to your liking from there.
This will only work for mice that have onboard memory to save DPI profiles, as obviously if it saves profiles on your computer, they wont transfer over to the PS3. My mouse allows for three onboard profiles, so I chose to use one of them specifically for Dust, as this sensitivity setup really makes no sense for anything else.
Currently I am using a DPI range of 2600 to 3200 on the X-axis (situational), and 5200 to 5700 on the Y-axis - software restrictions aren't allowing me to set my Y-axis at a solid 5700 for all five of my DPI profiles, although I would recommend pushing the Y-axis as high as your software will allow.
I hope this helps some others as much as it helped me, and if you have any questions feel free to ask! Not sure how much help I will be (I'm no techy), although I may be able to clear any confusion about how I may have worded this. It's 6am so I apologize if it isn't 100% coherent. Happy hunting guys!

Eskel Bondfree wrote:Yes, having a gaming mouse with built in memory is pretty much the only way to play this game with kb/m so far, sadly. But are you seriously playing with 2600 dpi in the x-axis? How can you even walk in a straight line?! I'm playing with 300/600 dpi, works ok as long as I don't get input lag on the bigger maps. Last build I only had to up the y-axis sensitivity by about 40%, this build it's just crazy... Yeah I'm playing with the DPI pretty high :P If I go over 3500 it gets a little to zippy for me though. What settings are you using? |

I just keep my keyboard + mouse close to me for the rare momenst where I want to snipe, otherwise I just use the controller I'm not to fond of the DS3 for anything but vehicles, and I find that the hassle is totally worth it.

Like i said, 300dpi x, 600 dpi y. Anything above makes precise aiming painfully difficult. Controller is just a no go for me, I tried it the first two weeks after I got into beta, couldn't hit a barn door with it and got massively frustrated. Had to resort to using gimx until kb/m was added to the game, felt a bit like cheating. For the record, I've been playing FPS on the PC since the late 90s, but never ever played them on a console before Dust. I'm decent with the DS3, but I am far, far better with KBM (by no means am I godly). You're only using 300 X, 600 Y? How do you even track a target..? |

CCP really messed up the mouse sensitivy, it seems very inconsistent between different hardware. With my 300/600 dpi setup I can track just like in any other shooter, it's like playing BF3 at 5000 dpi. But anything above 400 dpi, and Dust gets a freaking nightmare for me. I literally have trouble to run in a straight line when I'm setting my mouse to normal dpi rates. I didn't have those problems last build (except for the low y-axis sensitivity, but even that was far less severe). I think they made some changes to the sensitivity with the hotfix today, my setup felt fine yesterday, but it feels awful zippy today. The Y-axis feels better (haven't changed my DPI range at all, still 2500 above my X) but the X feels rather zippy. Gonna have to play with some numbers again.
It's strange that different hardware is acting differently, have you tried mouse smoothing? |

Reefersmokintaz wrote:Low? Seems after the new build launched, my mouse got faster as I had to turn down the sensitivity some b/c it was WAY too fast for me to turn or move the gun up and down. It is actually playable now with KB/M. The X axis is great, but many of us are having some pretty severe issues with the Y axis. |

Eskel Bondfree wrote:Update from today really did a lot, I can play with 1000 dpi no problem now, great work CCP! The y-axis problem is still there, but far less noticeable. @Veigar Mordekaiser: I have mouse smoothing on all the time. Seems like I could even turn it off now for a low dpi mouse like the MX510 I have lying around. I haven't played yet today, but I definitely noticed my mouse felt zippier yesterday. I made some DPI tweaks last night but I haven't had a chance to test them out. I'll report back when I do get some time in though. |

Rorian Gray wrote:Thanks for the heads up. Have loved how well mouse support works this new build except when trying to compensate for vertical drift on the assault rifles. Would still rather CCP make it better on their end rather than being dependent on niche hardware. Yeah me too, if they fixed things client side, hardware side customization would be much easier to tweak. Currently I have to have my Y DPI at 5700 for it to be usable, which maxed out on my G700. |

Rhadiem wrote:Nice tips. I haven't noticed an issue with it, but I have noticed a DRAMATIC improvement in playability of Dust using KBM this build. Like Night and Day. I'm really liking it. Yeah the turn speed cap lift is really nice, definitely happy about that. |
