I agree with the OP. There is no scouting with scout suits. There is no stealth or sneaking. No assassin gameplay. Every time a scout has tried to sneak up on me since I've been playing an assault suit, I've won. They're so easy to take down, which is the way it should be, but they're also easy to spot. Not the way it should be.
Also, this should go in feedback, with the other 3 or 4 threads on it. One of them by me. |

I like your optimism, but if I could inject a little realism here, let's look at the recent history of the call to arms from the forum: Swarm launchers were OP, thus nerfed. RE's were OP thus nerfed. Tanks were OP, thus nerfed. Scout suits were OP, thus nerfed.
What makes you think that cloaking won't be met with bloodcurdling screams of "It's OP" and "nerf it!"? The first time some AR wielding assault guy gets killed by someone who de-cloaked right behind him, he's going to get on his pc, come here, and cry nerf. That's how these forums work. I haven't been immune from it either. It's the culture here. Cloaking will be neutered at best, and removed altogether at worst.
I truly hope you're right, but somehow I doubt it... |

Gaff Origami wrote:I've actually had some pretty good luck with the Scout suit. I can go 10:2ish fairly regularly with a handful of caps at the start of the round. I have 2 primary loadouts, 1 in which I'm the fastest player on the map (usually) with a 8% speed buff which gives me about 8.5 m/s sprint and one where I'm probably invisible on everyone's scanners (25% skill profile dampening and 15% equipment dampening). As long as I choose my position carefully I don't see much incoming fire. If I were to step out onto a perch where I could survey the entire map and the entire map could survey me I'd die quickly.
The goal is to always be outside the range of AR and limited your exposure to potential counter-sniping locations on the map. I'm also convinced the profile dampening works because I've had enemies walk by me that I could clearly see on my scanner and they never even turned my direction.
That's good, but an assault can get pretty close to your speed with modules as well, and they have more of them and more CPU/GPU. Plus they have more hitpoints. So I'm pretty sure an assault build buffed all the way up could do just as well as both of your builds, and have more hit points to spare. That's why the scout suit is being talked about now. |

If we get a cloaking buff, scouts might be useful. |

Unit-775 wrote:What i expected from the Scout Suit was.
Something along the line of a Taranis Interceptor in Eve.
Basically:
getting naked (aka almost no armor)
doing drugs to get crazy (Damage mods)
and be fast like hell.
Add some razor sharp Nova Knives and go on rampage.
The last thing the enemy should notice, is a shadow behind him when he gets the Knives pushed inside his cranium.
They have the no armor part, but not the speed. |
