I have been putting this to thought and I have come up with a few ways in which you [CCP] can improve Dust514 or help to blance the game more so. With that all in mind here are some thoughts and ideas on how to improve Dust514. I apologise though that MAG may or less be brought up frequently, but again while the game had it's own flaws the basis of your game and it have some similarities, and above that it has a lot of which can canabolized, and/or reworked into Dust514. So you have my apologies.
It goes without saying, but every game needs a third game mode to bring it all together with a nice, and tidy little bow. You know the complete package. We currently have one broken game mode (Ambush) which feels useless, and meaningless to play, and the other (Skirmish) which is the MAG equivalent to Domonation. Which is a good thing, and people generally love it. What you need though is a third game mode as I pointed out. One that deals in medium maps infact. Something a kin to 'Capture the Flag' or maybe 'Acquisition'? Nonetheless you need atleast one more game mode to really tie this game together.
- Fixing and improving 'Ambush':
This game mode as previously pointed out feels like a useless waste of code, and game space. The maps are overly way to large, and barren. The game is a glorified 'Team Deathmatch' which should work, but you've made the maps too large, clunky, and barren. Infact the player numbers currently do not properly support it. A proper way to improve this whole game mode would be to apply the name literally and give it an objective. Sort of a kin to 'Sabotage' from again MAG.
- Fixing the initial spawn from the MCC:
Not that it's bad as it stands -- It's not, and it is fun to plummet down. However I was thinking since in one clip from a pre-rendered build during the E3 I think it would be better though to have a continues run by of smaller ships that like in the clip launch us from pods. It would also help prevent some of the current warpoint farming which is happening at the moment. Plus it helps to keep a rythm and a flow of troops. If you want a good example look at how MAG took the parashoot idea and improve upon it. You displayed a glimpse of this in a video even.
- Increasing the standard population of allowable players for game modes:
Speaks for itself really. I think it's time again to increase the player base total per team. As it stands the maps are overall being widely unused, and half of the time the games themselves become lopsided, and/or boring. Which is not how I should feel about playing this game. It's a good game. Continues increases till we hit a destined size is a good idea to flesh out now rather then later though. As it would be more stressful on the game later, and hurt the game overall with players being upset, or dissapointed.
- Increasing the warpoints necessary for 'Orbital Bombardments':
Again self explainatory for the most part. As it stands with the bar at seven hundred and fifty or somewhere close to that it is too low. Farming aside. I think the minimum should be a thousand or even fifteen hundred warpoints. Simply due to the fact that we are eventually going to have an increadible amount of more players, and more oppurtunities in which to acquire these warpoints in a legit fashion.
- Removal of the ISK and skill point limiter and/or cap:
Why this was implemented even in the first place is beyond me, and annoying to say the least. Infact it harms the games and replayability of said game more then you probably even realize. It's simple to fix -- Remove the limiter/cap restriction.
- Increase of ISK acquisition:
I'm not condoning the griefing and have fought against it, but increasing it by a minimum (1.7x) it's current would more then likely solve most of the ISK problems most of the testers are facing. Not that I have complaints. Generally I do not in this specific topic. Skill points are fine though.
We need it. We need our own auction house and open barter market in which we the players can give away, sell, or trade our equipment for other items from ISK to AUR, or even specific gear and equipment. The faster this happens the faster you go a long way in pleasing the general population.
- Lobby 'War Room' priority:
I get it you love watching me seeth in anger over the match making you force through. However I implore you to make match making take priority in finding lobbies above everything else. I cannot tell you how many matches I was forced to exit simply due to the fact that the matches were either already decided, or half over. Infact this entire build I have not once seen a 'War Room' lobby at all. This is pathetic in terms of match making. Players generally enjoy knowing what it is going on first before the matches themselves. Like who makes up your team and squad, and even who your SL (Squad Leader) is going to be. Lobbies should hold priorities over everything else beyond team balancing. Filling matches after people leave or get kicked out is bad and always has done more harm then good. Players do not like taking up a fight already in progress.
I'd like to think I am being reasonable, and fair in my opinions and suggestions. This game has potential, and I did not even give you half of my suggestions. Like finally allowing us to have stripped wapons (no scope), or full factional armor. How about introducing both 'Crusader' and 'Operator' class dropsuits -- finally? The list goes on, but these take precident in helping to reflow the game and bring the game up a level. Atleast this is my thought(s) and opinons on that. Hm. |

I would also love feedback or othe opinions and suggestions from other Dusters. Please do leave your comments, and suggestions. The more the better.
Edit:
I know some of what I said is basic so if you have questions I will try to better explain them if possible. I was constrained at the time with the character limit. Which is why some are either confussing, or basic. I do apologise though for bringing up MAG so often there, but as I pointed out even among my initial posting; that the game itself has a lot to still offer, and a lot which can be repurposed for Dust514. Making this game ultimately better. No, this does not mean Dust514 will become MAG or that I want it to become such. What I realize though is that the game has a lot to offer.
Thank you, for reading my posting. I know it is/was long, but it should be nonetheless worth it. |

They do have a third game mode that was in previous beta version before ambush and skirmish was introduced ... it was more like Mag really, attack/defend. Attackers had to destroy one or two targets, war line gets pushed back until facility. Defenders were either to kill all clones or keep the line held until the enemy MCC was destroyed.
Sorry, but I can't think of anything more then you for now ... main this is just fix FPS to be more constant if possible, try and improve texture tech so distant rifle combat works better ... all in all, tighten what is already in the game, make it feel better, smoother, and more stable, and we have something to work from.
I do have a idea I really like about game event missions, etc ... but it's to soon to say |

Well I have been for three builds and I have not seen a third game mode at all, but I would welcome it over 'ambush' at the moment. Seeing how all I play is 'skirmish' simply because, it is more engaging and demanding. |

Well as I said. I have only been around for three builds, but still I would gladly welcome another game mode to test, play and hopefully enjoy. Seriously this game needs a little more variety, and sometimes the "classics" are best and "classics" for a reason. Such as Zones/Skirmish, and CTF. Even a MOBA (Massive Online Battle Arena) DM (Deathmatch) would be nice and welcomed. However this is detracting from the original intent.
I would like your opinion though on what you think of what I had to offer. |

Well CCP already said more game modes are coming ... arena style matches (CTF, TDM, 1VS1, etc) is planed to come out sometime next year ... the neat thing is Eve players (and maybe dust players too) will be able to bet on the winning team ... so Eve will probably have a sort of Eve TV I'm guessing =/
Also, PVE will come in a sort of horde mode.
Current modes will get twists with the possible introduction on non tempered planet (that's what CCP calls planet that don't have consistent terrain/atmosphere) like lava planets where dropships aren't just nice, but required to move around, etc.
I don't remember what they called them, but a mech type vehicle is also coming
Lots of this was mentioned at the 2012 Evefest back in march. Check some of them out on Youtube of you like, a few keynotes about dust and various aspects of the game. |

Well they certainly could do a lot more to keep us (the testers) informed about what is going on. I'm not talking about just the IRC, but seriously they could stem to afford the time and talk to us properly. I knew about the arena styled game modes, but considering the lack of talk about them I figured they more then likely scrapped it for a later time far after release. Same for the player versus enviroment style matches, and missions. CCP has some issues to be sure of -- which is a shame considering how talented and singularly devoted they are to ensuring they're game is as awsome as can be. |

The only thing I feel strongly about here is Parashooting as you said. If I didn't play MAG I'd call you out on a typo. But Parashooting/sniping was one of the WORST aspects of MAG. Only because you spawned in the same spot in the air. Ez target. If CCP do stuff like that, they need to be sure it's not suicide 9/10. Edit: Parachuting was fun though. MCC jump is too. |

Well, Tony, in this case however like in one of clips we're sort of shot out in a Obrtial Entry pod. Atleast something a kin. So it would be harder to shoot us down, and kills us. However it would be cool in the sense that it could be potential extra points for heavies with a forge gun, or swarm launcher. Still it's not a bad idea. As for being killed on spawn in for MAG; I never once had a problem controlling my vector of approach while parashooting in. I also was ever rarely sniped upon spawning. It was a great idea though nonetheless, and hopefully it can be aproached by CCP as a way to spawn. As it stands jumping out of MCC is cool, but clunky. Especially seeing how that fall does zero damage, but falling four feat depletes twenty percent of my shields. Amazing.
I get what you are saying though -- so do not missunderstand me. I just think it could be approached in an EVE way in which would allow it to be suitable and reliable. |

Yeah. I heard them and others mention it over the past four months. It would be nice to see the 'player vesus enviroment' take up the single player, and co-op aspect though. Sort of like missions, or training, or even just to explore and gather loot. The possibilities are there though. |

+1 good suggestions and feedback, but CCP said they don't want big lists like this. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=37174&find=unread
Try to find threads about each individual topic you discussed and post there, or make a new thread for an issue if you can't find an existing thread for them. I'm not saying this to be a kitten, I just don't want your good feedback to be potentially ignored because how its provided.
There is a feedback thread specific to Codex made by CCP, and its stickied. I think your list would fit there. Just copy/paste it in there: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=39053&p=1 |

Wow!
Thanks, Kagehoshi, I had no idea. However this to me is not what I would call even a big list. Sure I maxed out the characters allowed for an individual posting, but I could have easily kept going. I was forced to dumb down, and limit what I wanted to just that -- what I felt was most crucial to helping rebalance the game in areas that needed it most without touching highly subjective areas such as strafe speeds, AR (Assault Rifles), or the a like. Thank you though. I would go about finding most of these, but I have not seen a thread for most of these. Most anyway; which is why I took to posting up again here. Simply because, it is my job as a tester. Though I like to provide meanigful and larger postings then just random postings. Not to say that everyone does, but some topics are highly questionable. Ha-ha.
I'll make smaller one topic based threads though from now on, or at the most just two topics. Thank you again for the heads up though, Kagehoshi, and thank you for the positive feedback about my suggestions. |
