hello players of EVE and Dust 514. I figured I should make this post early while we are in the beta stages of the game, so that I could start early.
I am making a Corp. Simple right? yes. and no. My goal - I want my corp to be the best in the EVE/Dust universe ( top of the leader boards in DUST) at what we do. I am not interested in a direct purpose right now. This game is too young for that. I am giving the whole breakdown, here and now. bottom to top. First. The people.
I am looking for good players- not so simple. Let me explain. I'll use myself as an example. As big of a deal as it it to have a ton of kills to most people, kills are over rated, while K/D ratio and WP (war points) are under rated. see. most players, run into battle, focused on killing the enemy asap. They usually don't think about how to get around the enemy too well, and don't pay a lot of attention to the battlefield, but for arguments sake, lets say you- the reader- are a veteran player, and you think you do use strategy and such. Here is the problem Your focus is still getting kills. yes. blunt logic says, kills win the battle as much as taking the objective and holding it does. I don't care what your logic says. It doesn't make great players so I don't need it. Its the same in the military. Its run by logic of how "things should work" but yet what keeps us going and making what is impossible by logical terms, possible. Its really not that hard. I want players that have a goal. whatever it is. I want to have the highest K/D ratio ever. So I will. this is important. so that the player will have a drive, without me handing him objectives and having him just follow orders. He/she will HAVE THEIR OWN WAY about the battlefield. Second. The person will need to know their own role. No. Im not handing out roles for you to perform, or expecting you to be the perfect Triage. Everyone has their own way. I want players that Want to Find their Element of play. For example. Me, I snipe - but see, I am not a sniper, I love CQC, assault, heavy guns, knives, fast play, sneaking and overwhelming odds in which i have to find a cunning way to escape, fight and survive. My Element is Espionage (at least in shooters) I love it. So it would be no surprise is I am out sniped one day. However, no one will beat me in Espionage. I play to survive. Not kill. but survival is not my only goal. just my style. I realized from playing this way, that I need other players in my realm. Let me explain. Lets say your assault. Well this means you need to face the enemy head on. If you play for kills (even as a vet) Your disregarding your life. I know all too well, most players don't care too much about dying. Naturally we avoid the subject. I want players to put a value on their characters life. This will naturally incorporate strategic thinking, and allow for more advanced tactics, implemented with ease, because the said user of such tactics will be receptive to them, as they are a means for his survival. In short. He/She will not only play to survive, but to win - not just for their goals, but because their life is on the line. AND THEIR FIGHTING IN THEIR OWN ELEMENT. Mind blown. Its like trying to kill a shark while swimming with your bare hands and teeth. Not going to work. Unless your know the weaknesses of the shark. (another important factor ill get into another time) Let me put "playing in your element" in another perspective. For starters, its not fulfilling a role - not deliberately (this will come naturally) Its finding a way that works for you, at your best. Event if this counter acts your current desires. After all, what your good at and what you want to do are often two different things. (don't worry- when you realized what your good at, you want to do it) Some peoples Elements cant be realized so easily, because they require a group for optimum performance.. maybe most peoples require a group. That is ok. But how you play alone defines you. If you are a leader or a follower. Followers have not found their way. so I believe, That no matter your element, it can be performed alone. Elements penetrate your whole style of play. Its not something as simple as just sneaking behind people and shooting them in the back. This type of strategy sounds good on paper, but it has too many holes - how will you get behind your enemy unseen? how can you ensure that you are unseen everytime? do you even know if your outnumbered or not? what happening on the battlefield? how are you changing the fight? are you covered? is your ally giving you away? what if there is a enemy you cant see, that sees you? ect. this goes on and on. When you find your element. It will change your whole take in your approach in gaming. You will be covered in all aspects, through your own will, with seemingly little effort, do more than one cool, interesting thing ( like throw bombs on the ground and wait for vehicles) and it will be far more descriptive than "Snipe" Most of all. You probably wont be able to fully perform in your element, as this games maps are too small. Your element is most likely large scale, or deeply entwined in player game play.
so Lets summarize before I continue. I want people who have Goals ( so that they have their own way. this will allow the player to focus with ease), Play to survive (not win- this will happen automatically, as you need to win to stay alive) and Players who Knows their Element or trying to Find it ( as long as your trying to find it, it will come easy). And lastly, a player who can perform well, alone. If you can play well by yourself, imagine how well you would do, playing with other people who can play well alone (please- the whole, their teamwork sucks is a load of bs -team work is something to be gained together by utilizing the abilities of each individuals specialization and combining them with the optimal tactics for the situation. Abilities & tactics is better than just Tactics)...

Next time, make a noticeable summary at the end rather than a block of text. Also, you're shooting for pretty much impossible goals... considering a guy will come along and stab you in the back. Who knows? It could possibly be one of mine! You really need to make smaller goals first, then combine them into a big goal. |

Now that Ive covered those three things, Lets summarize what said acomplished player will look like. They will have a K/D ration ( probably higher that appropriate for their class) and a good, even number of kills and w/p. They will be fairly high on the leader boards. When they play, they usually don't die in game, support team in a way that suits them, without getting into too much trouble, not often seen, less often sniped. effective in battle ( even with militia weapons) Rarely beaten at what they do (we all have our moments) but most of all, proud of their character and their play. They are the type to know when to run and when to fight. What not to do, and when to do what needs to be done, in the most effective way you can do it solo, without dying. They know their limits, but when they are pressed, they usually come out on top, and any information given, is used for optimum play. They know how to survive. These people are not the most accurate, or deadly, nor the best killers (usually) they are almost normal people. just with goals and a will to survive. They are winners for different reasons than winning. This is just Playing solo. Now the next questions. how will these people play together? how will teamwork work? how can you be an individual in a group? How the hell are you gonna win, if your only surviving stupid? How will this become consistent? How big do you play to be? How can you carry on from battle to battle like this? How can a melting pot of randomly skilled people with their own way, work together? (they are skilled specialist btw though i will probably find them in their rookie stages, im still a rookie too.) How do you combine these skills effectively?
Well, we will start with the first question. giving each answer its own individual post. For my sake lol. |

yup thats what I did at the end. Im sure you saw it. or not. It plainly says, Lets summarize. You should read the whole thing before you comment randomly. |

So the first question. How will these people play together? I should say this early to avoid people believing this impossible. All you need is "to want to do it" that is it. From there I will work with you until you figure everything out. I intend for our corp to be very close. And also, My goals are as you can call them "small" im starting with people, in case you didn't read my block of words.
Now to the question. Its a simple answer. the will and they wont. Early on, it is going to be very difficult to perform advanced tactics because of a lack of trust and knowledge of your teammates. In other words. We will simply continue doing our own thing, but with a slight twist. Our teammates will be there. They can request your help, in one way or another, and you can help how you please, in your element, playing in your style, in your own way. This will create trust in one another's abilities and a more likely hood to work together for survival, and ultimately victory. So simply. you be yourself. they be themselves, and it all works out, as you get to know each other. I will have a few rules implemented like mentors and assigned teams, captains, and ect. so that newer players have a place in the future as well. but this is beta, and so is my corp. I only play to start with four people. As trying to help anymore at a time would be impossible. I cant bring anymore than three into a game. Those who find their place in the battlefield will help those who have not. simple right? It is. And all the while, you get to play with people you genuinely trust, by natural means. Not just out of expectancy because your on the same team. that is a force trust.

How the hell are we going to win?
This indeed is a interesting question. after all. we are playing to survive. Naturally when your surviving, you kill before you are killed. this is no different in game. simply put, the skilled players will still be skilled no matter what. and since they do as they always have, they are going to pretty much kick ass, the only difference is that there are two of them on one team now. Of course. the opposing team is still a big factor. so there is never a guarantee. |

How do you plan to be consistent? how to can you carry on from battle to battle like this? Consistency relies on the players right? so as long as they have a goal, and a good feeling to comeback to when they play this game, then that is all that matters, win or lose, that's what everyone is after when they play together. Fun. It is no different here. Its just really fun to win too.
the second question? k. Every person has a limit, and has a life. I don't expect people to give their lives to me. Thats dumb. I have a life too. and I want people to understand, it does not take a ton of time to get good at a game. past experiences help a lot, yes. but honestly. all you need is a goal. a direction. a good feeling. and some fun. That's a warmness I want in my Corp as well. |

You're out of luck, OP. haha if you read all of it, you'll note that I dont need the best guys. just people who want more than running and gunning, and desire better play from them selves. The average player is fine. everyone is a specialist in one way or another. they just haven't realized it yet. |

How can I combine these skills properly? its just like america. give it time, and put them together. It will usually work out. Other than this. I will stop for now. I have a plan for how the corp structure will work and ect. but right now I need the people. and I will need their help as well. If you don't know me, I am easy to find. I'll probably repost this stuff in a more condensed form next time. I just needed to get my thoughts out there. Thanks for reading. Later. |

Just because you have more skilled players doesn't mean you win, there will be other ways of winning a fight, and if corps will be able control how much clone respawns they can have, it could be easy to win from simply throwing things in the general direction of the enemy, a more heavily funded corporation can have terrible players but can afford to throw more isk at you then you could ever dream of having. |

You might look into things like capitalization, proper punctuation, and the basic sentence/ paragraph stucture that a fifth grader knows. What we see is a wall of unfocused gibberish that may or may not even be English. You may have a great concept (I didn't get that far) but you'll have a hard time finding a following if you come across as an illiterate *insert slur here*.

dude you dont get it. first off. most corps are made of both of those things and less. secondly. I intend to take a mediocre to average player, and help him become great. that is what i mean when i say specialist. Finding great players is slim to none, and I wouldn't waste my time with negative people or corps that hold up the facade of being professional or great, when honestly and sadly. most players are average. and everyone is in a corp. so you can imagine that even the best corps are full of average players. These avg people just stack to the number in large corps, while the higher ups control everything. If you like that sort of thing, which by your reply, it seems you do. good for you. I want all my players to have a mind of their own. and im willing to help them find it. That alone, makes them more than average. |

You don't want the best but the first thing you mentioned in what you're looking for was 'K/DR'........you do know that K/DR means nothing in this game right? What matters most is team work, hacking, revives, re-supplies, repairs etc etc. K/DR is meaningless and sooooo COD bro. |
