I am making a Corp. Simple right? yes. and no. My goal - I want my corp to be the best in the EVE/Dust universe ( top of the leader boards in DUST) at what we do. I am not interested in a direct purpose right now. This game is too young for that.
I am giving the whole breakdown, here and now. bottom to top.
First. The people.
I am looking for good players- not so simple. Let me explain.
I'll use myself as an example. As big of a deal as it it to have a ton of kills to most people, kills are over rated, while K/D ratio and WP (war points) are under rated.
see. most players, run into battle, focused on killing the enemy asap. They usually don't think about how to get around the enemy too well, and don't pay a lot of attention to the battlefield, but for arguments sake, lets say you- the reader- are a veteran player, and you think you do use strategy and such. Here is the problem Your focus is still getting kills. yes. blunt logic says, kills win the battle as much as taking the objective and holding it does. I don't care what your logic says. It doesn't make great players so I don't need it. Its the same in the military. Its run by logic of how "things should work" but yet what keeps us going and making what is impossible by logical terms, possible. Its really not that hard.
I want players that have a goal. whatever it is. I want to have the highest K/D ratio ever. So I will. this is important. so that the player will have a drive, without me handing him objectives and having him just follow orders. He/she will HAVE THEIR OWN WAY about the battlefield.
Second. The person will need to know their own role. No. Im not handing out roles for you to perform, or expecting you to be the perfect Triage. Everyone has their own way. I want players that Want to Find their Element of play. For example. Me, I snipe - but see, I am not a sniper, I love CQC, assault, heavy guns, knives, fast play, sneaking and overwhelming odds in which i have to find a cunning way to escape, fight and survive. My Element is Espionage (at least in shooters) I love it. So it would be no surprise is I am out sniped one day. However, no one will beat me in Espionage. I play to survive. Not kill. but survival is not my only goal. just my style. I realized from playing this way, that I need other players in my realm.
Let me explain. Lets say your assault. Well this means you need to face the enemy head on. If you play for kills (even as a vet) Your disregarding your life. I know all too well, most players don't care too much about dying. Naturally we avoid the subject. I want players to put a value on their characters life. This will naturally incorporate strategic thinking, and allow for more advanced tactics, implemented with ease, because the said user of such tactics will be receptive to them, as they are a means for his survival. In short. He/She will not only play to survive, but to win - not just for their goals, but because their life is on the line. AND THEIR FIGHTING IN THEIR OWN ELEMENT. Mind blown. Its like trying to kill a shark while swimming with your bare hands and teeth. Not going to work. Unless your know the weaknesses of the shark. (another important factor ill get into another time)
Let me put "playing in your element" in another perspective. For starters, its not fulfilling a role - not deliberately (this will come naturally) Its finding a way that works for you, at your best. Event if this counter acts your current desires. After all, what your good at and what you want to do are often two different things. (don't worry- when you realized what your good at, you want to do it) Some peoples Elements cant be realized so easily, because they require a group for optimum performance.. maybe most peoples require a group. That is ok. But how you play alone defines you. If you are a leader or a follower. Followers have not found their way. so I believe, That no matter your element, it can be performed alone.
Elements penetrate your whole style of play. Its not something as simple as just sneaking behind people and shooting them in the back. This type of strategy sounds good on paper, but it has too many holes - how will you get behind your enemy unseen? how can you ensure that you are unseen everytime? do you even know if your outnumbered or not? what happening on the battlefield? how are you changing the fight? are you covered? is your ally giving you away? what if there is a enemy you cant see, that sees you? ect. this goes on and on. When you find your element. It will change your whole take in your approach in gaming. You will be covered in all aspects, through your own will, with seemingly little effort, do more than one cool, interesting thing ( like throw bombs on the ground and wait for vehicles) and it will be far more descriptive than "Snipe" Most of all. You probably wont be able to fully perform in your element, as this games maps are too small. Your element is most likely large scale, or deeply entwined in player game play.
so Lets summarize before I continue. I want people who have Goals ( so that they have their own way. this will allow the player to focus with ease), Play to survive (not win- this will happen automatically, as you need to win to stay alive) and Players who Knows their Element or trying to Find it ( as long as your trying to find it, it will come easy). And lastly, a player who can perform well, alone. If you can play well by yourself, imagine how well you would do, playing with other people who can play well alone (please- the whole, their teamwork sucks is a load of bs -team work is something to be gained together by utilizing the abilities of each individuals specialization and combining them with the optimal tactics for the situation. Abilities & tactics is better than just Tactics)...
