Because who wants to waste time running across a map just to die by a sniper hiding in the red line?
use a vehicle, get swarmed.
Get into a gun fight? it turns into matter of who sees who fire. (because you can't move to save your life)
So just sit back, and a boost instead, there's literally nothing else to do. |

It depends on what you are trying to achieve: grinding SP or playing the game.
I also play SC2 casually and there is the same thing. You can 6pool/4WGpush to diamond or try to play interesting game in silver .
You have passive SP gain. Stop bothering about it. Try to play each game better and better, execute interesting tactics, etc.
Not a game force you to grind, it's you. |

It's not that difficult. If the enemy is using a swarm launcher or a forge gun you use a sniper rifle or some other friendly anti-personnel weapon -- if they're using anything else you hop in an LAV and run them down. If your'e in the process of running someone down and they switch to a swarm launcher or a forge gun bail the kitten out or learn to dodge.
I played a match with a crazy woman driver earlier. She was spinning her LAV around & trying to back over people, then gunning away & coming back in at full speed to try to catch them broadside one of the bodies got caught in her wheel well & started sparking. I didn't even know it could kittening do that. |

guys it's just beta lol, you people
The sp farming will obviously be stopped, they don't want every match with people going 0/0 in 1st place lol. It's cute, It'll be fun to tell stories of these terrible builds once the next few months pass and dust is released.
Also in case you didn't get it, there is going to be a point where you get no more sp per battle if you try to grind in dust 514. Grinding is a mwaste of time just play the game. The skill points will come over time, don't even focus on it. The passive sp is equal to 10 games a day by the end of the week. That's generous. 140,000 new sp a week for free. Awesome right? And the new prices for skills everything is way easy to level up.
I'd say it's harder to make money, and that never decays. It's way more useful, skill books are expensive! So playing a lot you can still grind isk, which in eve/dust is just as important as your skill point number. You need massive money to fund the skills and fits once your into null warfare a year from now with over 20 million sp.
Seriously, dust has a skill cap of 5. More like 10 with the two level skills. Once you max out those 4 light weapon skills and level 5 shotgun skills, you are now maxed out. You can not get any stronger.
My point is, just play dust. In 10 weeks of playing, even if you only play casually, you'll have at minimum 1,400,000 sp passive, and you can earn about 300,000 a week before you really hit harsh sp decay. So lets say you don't grind while it's at 5,000 a match.
In just 10 weeks of playing dust you will have about 4,400,000 million sp. Now, now, I know this is CRAZY slow compared to before. I got to 14 million sp, i know. But now skill prices are dirt cheap. And 4,400,000 sp, if you really look into the new skill prices, that's 10 weeks to basically max out multiple builds.
So guys, one day you won't even have skills left to train, so enjoy it while you can. |

This. Stop caring about SP and K/D and start playing for fun. I found that having fun gives you more SP, simply because you stop thinking OMG I'LL DIEEEEE and just do stuff. |

OH NO THE FARMING! Honestly not as big a deal as people make it out to be IMO.
A few friends and I actually spent one game on farming SP per farming style on a few different styles as part of our beta testing and you know what we found? We only did about as well WP wise as a kinda good game for us. We did terrible for ISK. Doing this sort of thing helps you lose so your W/L ratio goes down too. Lastly its boring as heck. SP return , especially once you get into the heavy end of the diminishing SP returns seemed minimal.
We don't bother because the difference tends to not only be very small but we have more fun actually playing the damn game. |

I played 4 rounds of skirmish last night.
To my delight no one was boosting. The one match my squad and I played that had serious PS spam was clearly coming from legitimate means.
Maybe we got lucky.
Theres a movement of people who are starting to troll boosters with a variety of tactics. It might be possible that this problem could be waining. |

i don't think you or ccp get it. you really think people will hang around waiting for skills in an FPS like they do in EvE? delusional thats what you are.
and never have skills to train? it will be exactly the same as EvE where you are actually swimming against the currents just to stay in the same place once you reach the top, i.e they will never really add anything to the game skillwise just add skills for players to train where CCP just stealth nerf existing skills to save them rebalancing at the top end.
edit example of their developing ethos: last build the radar skills were at 100% for everyone(or as close as damn it). this build they added "radar" skills so people now have to train skills to get where they were at last build. all im saying is that i don't think that will work for FPS players. hard to gauge what's natural player wastage over when developers **** off the customer base and by the time the flags raised in an FPS it's too late to do anything about it , they move onto other games.
call ot an mmofps if you like it's just another FPS to most players whether you like it or not. |

Lonewolf514 I think your missing a big part of the point of a progressive beta like this if you think adding in planed features over time constitutes nerfing. |

im going by what they have done since i started as a day 1 player in eve not from a beta player. i'm not guessing i'm telling you how things will be even after release.just ask anyone honest thats played eve for a long long time.
instead of actually developing a good fps in it's own right, taking some features from the eve universe they are turning this game into an eve clone in a way, maybe it will work i just don't think it will because fps and mmo players are different playersets. |

but with the game slowed so far down, what fun exactly is there to be had?
I suppose if we assume that the "back office" stuff is still in it's infancy, there could be some fun to be had there (like in eve), but from a pure FPS standpoint, there's really nothing compelling happening now on the battlefield. You trudge around like you're moving through molasses, and all gunfights are resolved based on who has the better stuff. The gun game has been almost entirely eliminated from the equation to the point that you see someone, you point at them, and best gear wins. It's too slow to juke, jive, dodge, or really do ANYTHING other than stand and fire.
The real problem, IMO, is that the pace and flow of the game, doesn't match the speed of the actual gameplay. The maps and modes are set up in a fairly close quarters (yes, there's plenty of empty space, but all the gameplay takes place near objectives and CRUs which are always clustered together in little clumps), fast respawn, short mission timer format, but the gameplay is now more suited to highly organized, squad based movement, and planned attacks.
I'm still holding out hope that corp warfare will be compelling enough to make up for the overall poor FPS, but the gameplay itself is about as boring and slow as I've ever seen. |
