Something CCP does quite a lot. Assault rifles are their favourite weapon, assault suits are their favourite drop suit type, they hate all vehicles, they hate logistics and heavies. This game wil turn into another bland fps if they don't start adding more variety and giving good reasons to use other things. When you play this game what is the thing you see everywhere? Assault suits with assault rifles. Just a boring machine gun firing game.
The only people that use differ things are the people that enjoy using them. There usually isn't any actual bonus to use them. Sure logis might be good once you hit proto but before that they just get killed because their team is to focused on slaying. Sure heavies have more armour but it's useless because they can't get anywhere and assault dropsuits easily outmanoeuvre them, something only scout suits should be able to do easily. When I fire my laser rifle at someone it doesn't do as much damage as their assault rifle does to me so I just die.
My main point is that CCP needs to add good reasons to use other things. What can my laser rifle do that their assault rifle can't. There needs to be more bonuses for other weapons and dropsuits or more drawbacks for assault rifles and assault suits. CCP don't be afraid to put in crazy ideas. They are what makes the game fun. Put in a suit that can teleport but can only wield nova knifes, put in a weapon that fires corrosive acid, put in a vehicle that resembles a motorbike with blades on the front, with bright headlights that blind people.
Don't be afraid. Difference is good. Stop the boringness before its too late. |

From CCP videos on Youtube and the way builds have come down the pipe, I would have to say a lot of the blame rests with players/ beta testers.
CCP used to love the heavy, but had to nerf the heavy.
CCP secretly still loves vehicles, at least someone on their payroll does. Both of these options got a lot of flack and were the subject of many crying threads from us, the beta testers.
Not me. I liked the old "Oh crap! It's a heavy! Run!" heavy from Replicant build.
We, the players, are the boring. Ever notice how we are always trying to balance stuff? Or typing that things are unbalanced?
It is up to CCP to ignore us (well, unless we have great ideas and worthwhile insight) and stick to their vision of what the game can be. |

I both agree and disagree. It's not up to CCP to ignore us. It's up to us to give CCP better things to listen to!
If ccp just sees dozen of threads saying "tanks/heavys/breach guns are OP wtf ccp" then they have no frame of reference for what the problem with those things actually are or what is OP about them. Being as clear and concise as possible when giving feedback helps CCP give us what we need, even if it's not what we -thought- we wanted! |

it's hard to just ignore the general public and if you try to measure everything up to one build beats all is just ridiculous. i foresee a assault nerf in range and accuracy in the near future. i would love to try out different things. i would of loved to try out knifing and stuff but i am still stuck on trying to get my profile down. so far i am seeing great improvement with my 1 point in sniper rifle as i sit and peck the faces off of everyone who stands still longer than 1 second.
i went the boring assault path before and the kick and inaccuracy was annoying. the dropship ceiling is also really bad now dropships have an even smaller window to play "keep ahead of the hundreds of kitten rockets that are up their butt." in a game where you have multiple ways to build things you need to find balance in them. once people start getting the ishukone people will be whining about snipers and how they are invisible and one shot everyone.
nearly all the snipers are just working on their profile so it's just a waiting game. we all just got reset so all we are seeing now are the assaulters because it's one of the easiest less skill intensive route. |

Then we need a dislike button on the forums to show that all these stupid people don't represent the majority |

Agreed. I overstated for rhetorical reasons and so please feel free to ignore such.
It must be a daunting task to try to sift through all the responses to the game and get a sense of how it is playing for the people in Beta. It also happens that passionate creators can get too close to something when working their ass off just trying to get it done and lose the ability to see it, their creation, with any sort of perspective.
Clear, descriptive, detailed feedback can help bring things back into focus. In the end, games are made for the players. We are like, the whole reason a game like DUST 514 even exists, at all. And could all do well to not take that for granted, and give a little something extra back. Every now and then.
Even though it is easy to get fed up and think, "Ah screw it, gonna vent in the forums." Happens to everyone. |
