Don't be afraid. Difference is good. Stop the boringness before its too late.
From CCP videos on Youtube and the way builds have come down the pipe, I would have to say a lot of the blame rests with players/ beta testers.
CCP used to love the heavy, but had to nerf the heavy.
CCP secretly still loves vehicles, at least someone on their payroll does. Both of these options got a lot of flack and were the subject of many crying threads from us, the beta testers.
Not me. I liked the old "Oh crap! It's a heavy! Run!" heavy from Replicant build.
We, the players, are the boring. Ever notice how we are always trying to balance stuff? Or typing that things are unbalanced?
It is up to CCP to ignore us (well, unless we have great ideas and worthwhile insight) and stick to their vision of what the game can be. |

It's not up to CCP to ignore us. It's up to us to give CCP better things to listen to!
If ccp just sees dozen of threads saying "tanks/heavys/breach guns are OP wtf ccp" then they have no frame of reference for what the problem with those things actually are or what is OP about them. Being as clear and concise as possible when giving feedback helps CCP give us what we need, even if it's not what we -thought- we wanted!
Agreed. I overstated for rhetorical reasons and so please feel free to ignore such.
It must be a daunting task to try to sift through all the responses to the game and get a sense of how it is playing for the people in Beta. It also happens that passionate creators can get too close to something when working their ass off just trying to get it done and lose the ability to see it, their creation, with any sort of perspective.
Clear, descriptive, detailed feedback can help bring things back into focus. In the end, games are made for the players. We are like, the whole reason a game like DUST 514 even exists, at all. And could all do well to not take that for granted, and give a little something extra back. Every now and then.
Even though it is easy to get fed up and think, "Ah screw it, gonna vent in the forums." Happens to everyone. |
