At the moment the laser rifle operation reduces the heat build up by 5% and the proficiency reduces cool down by 3%. Where is the damage increase skill? Every other weapon has one of these skills increasing the damage of the weapon. Don't get me wrong the laser rifle is pretty good, but even now it struggles to deal damage to some armour types.
As people increase their skills in armour the laser rifle will be severely left behind compared to all other weapon types.
I think the proficiency skill should increase the damage by 2% or 3% per skill level so that it can be increased to match the skill increases of armour and shield. |

In addition, why is the advanced version of the gun only modified to reduce heat build up without any damage modifier. The skill required to use the advanced version also reduces heat build up and by the time you get to level 4 you can almost go through an entire clip before the heat build takes effect. Essentially this means that prototype version of the laser rifle is useless because you get the same efficieny out of the standard model once you have got the skills up.
The only improvement is if you skill up to level 5 to use the prototype version which then costs 80k ISK which then offers an increase damage from 15 to 20.
Why can't the advanced version increase the damage to 18HP so it will then scale from 15-18-20. That way the advanced version of the weapon wont be entirely useless.
laser rifles need to be rebalanced to coincide with the damage potential of the other weapons... |

Isn't a reduced heat/cooldown in the same ballpark as more direct damage? I mean, if you can shoot for longer and require less cooldown when you overheat, your damage per minute will go way up as you're able to sustain firing for longer. I realize it's not the same as having strictly +dmg%, but it isn't as left behind as these posts make it out to be. |

It isn't in the same ballpark if you can empty a clip at level 4 operation without worrying about the over heat. It essentially renders the lvl 5 operations and proficiency skills pointless whereas the other weapons still benefit from each level increase in both operation and prof. |
