lol just a thought..maybe they can sniff out snipers ,i wonder how "dogs"could be used..we dont got mines so sniffing out mines wouldnt work lol dogs with guns? |

I can see it now... 2 weeks from now this thread will be still on the front page because you keep bumping it despite everyone thinking its not the best idea.
Never heard of a dog in New Eden. People of New Eden have lost all connection to Earth, and many things from Earth (maybe including dogs) since that gate collapsed thousands of years ago. There are slaver hounds which look a lot like Earth dogs, but that could just be convergent evolution, but it could also be a descendent of Earth dogs brought to New Eden long ago. I'm not sure, I don't play EVE. If we use slaver hounds, then it would not make sense because:
1_ There is no way in hell they could survive 1 shot from an assault rifle, or anything.
2_ If you give them a dropsuit to survive our insanely powerful tech, then they wouldn't be able to sniff out targets.
3_ Many planets we fight have no guarantee of a breathable atmosphere for a slaver hound.
4_ Snipers are inclosed in suits with their own environments, so they might not even leave an odor.
Now about the robot dog: A dog is not the most efficient, or effective form for a drone. It would not make sense to make the robot like a dog. |

No, I don't think you understand how a dog's smell works, and you're just proposing it without thinking because you think it sounds cool. You can't just "enhance" smell. You need to bring in molecules from the air for your nose to analyze, and then send the data to your brain; that is how smell works.
If you're not getting the air in your nose, if you have a dropsuit on with its own enclosed environment inside, then you can't smell what is on the outside. If you bring in the air from the outside, it might be something toxic to you.
You can't have it both ways. |

im just proposing because some1 posted a dont give up thread and said something bout requesting dogs lol.i own 13 dogs and i know how a dogs nose works.....to bust your no air coming in theory.that is what filters are for.filters filter harmful molecules etc so air can come thru and be consumed by whatever is using a filter.aka car,person or dog in this case

Claiming you have 13 dogs on the internet doesn't prove you know anything about dogs.
Filters work by allowing particles of a certain size in, and blocking out bigger ones. The molecules the dog would need to smell someone or explosives might actually be bigger than the molecules you need to keep out.
The dogs would need to already have a sample of the scent of the enemy, or all it could go for is the general smell of human, friend or foe regardless. For all we know all our clones pretty much smell the same anyway, they are mass produced, and for all we know using the same DNA. This only matters IF the clones release a scent through their suit, and you have not established that they do.

Maybe small-fast-homming-spider .. especialy build to anoing snipers is good?
Something like swarm-launchers but anti-personal use.
You see sniper.. .far far away. Noone are going for him (4 more snipers, lazy team, whatever)
You lock spder-grenade/missile... and it go... Probably not specialy deadly.... but sniper/camper must move a little from cover.
Good enough to make second move (up to you).

i would personally put another gun in the arms of someone than get a robo dog/dog suit. There is nothing a dog can do better. (sniffer dogs? lol give me infrared/radar/super-sensors any day) |

I made a killing one time running a large order of slaver hounds from one location to another in Amarr space on NPC station orders...
But I digress.
While I would not really want to see Slaver Hounds used in PVP matches, I would like to see some of the NPC missions where the NPC enemies unleash the hounds on the player and his buddies... |
