heated discussion aside. i ask:
what is wrong with moving left and right? or dodging bullets?
- i don't know if their are some that thought messing with the hit detection is fun. but that wasnt my thought at all when i moved left and right. it may have been the result, but thats unavoidable, because when im in a gun fight, im not going to stand still. and since the game is buggy, thats just how its gonna happen. if taking cover was all that was needed, then even with the bad hit detection, we wouldve done that before. if you strafed, i bet its all because you thought "he has a gun pointed in my direction, time to move" as ive stated before, ive played completed games without hit detection problems. and people still strafed. it never exploited anything except the fact that your controller allows you to move left and right.
before modding your console to gain an advantage was bad. now moving your analog stick left and right is bad.
if you plan on answering this - no reality comparisons please. you dont respawn in real life, you dont have clones of yourself. you can't throw spawn points of where you are going to be re-born, guns are a lot harder to use in real life then on this game. etc... i could make a list but thats too big as is.

i can completely understand if the hit detection was a problem. how i see it is: your characters pace was the same as it was with bad hit detection, all that happend was they fixed it. and i love it. i die more but that just tells me i need to up my game. and i will up my game. but with that being said, just make the scout and assault suits slightly faster.
i mean we all want some type of chance to survive. i like having more options then finding the nearest dumpster and hiding in it.
to be funny, gimme the metal gear box and ill show you how stupid some things can be. (For those who played MGS4 online and noticed that the box was your getaway from bullets) |

GO PLAY COD That's EXACTLY the attitude that CCP doesn't want. So many people just don't get it. This game needs LOTS of people buying things to make it commercially viable, if it isn't commercially viable it'll die. It's as simple as that. If the basic mechanics are poor, no one will play it. People will do EXACTLY as you suggest - they'll go back to CoD and Dust will have about 2 or 3 thousand players playing half full games until it peters out and the plug is pulled. Get real. Strafe babies need to get real... Strafing wasn't made to dodge bullets. Also I see nearly NO difference in the strafing at all. These people complaining. They aren't the intelligent audience CCP is looking for in my absolute honest opinion. Yes I know they aren't JUST aiming towards intelligence... But at least SOME form of it is nice. Strafing is used in the military to come in and out of cover a little more quickly than turning and walking forwards. I understand this isn't the military. But look at all those pro gamers doing exactly the same thing. I don't think CCP wants a bunch of three year old children complaining about something such as a minuscule reduce on strafe speed. YOU. Get real. At least I understand the real reason behind features. Can't handle strafing? You aren't as good as you think. I can handle it just fine. Learn how to play or GET OUT If you think CCP doesn't want big numbers and huge profit from this game then there's absolutely no point debating with you. I don't care about the strafe speed, I haven't even played this build yet. I'm talking about how the general FPS player perceives issues like this and how it can affect the rep of a game. Everything about Dust is just not up to scratch right now at a time when they are planning to open up the game to more and more people. It's not about what I want from the game, it's about what's made FPS games the massive cultural phenomenon that they have become. What are they biggest online shooters? Why are they the most popular? Where did the other games go wrong in comparison? I can assure you, it's all down to the core mechanics and how the game feels to play. Simple as that. Take a look at the SMALL but pestering number of people complaining about strafe. Do you think someone coming in new is going to think strafing is too slow? No. Strafe speed is NOT going to affect this game. Especially if the change was so minuscule. What you fail to understand (Yes I said this in the first sentence but it seems I must repeat myself) is that as annoying as these people are. They are FEW in number. There is no huge audience against strafe speed therefore it should be left as is. I know we all want a bunch of people playing this game on release. It'll happen. Something small like strafe speed reduction (AS SMALL AS IT IS) isn't going to affect the player count's outcome.
i just wanna say, one thing that is unique to dust is that... i have never seen any community actually get upset over strafing coming back or think it has nothing to do with the game, that is completely new to me. other then that i figured the base of players that liked strafing was actually pretty big seeing as strafing was introduce into games for a long long time now.
edit: i do think strafing may be more okay then what i thought it was though, i still seem to be able to dodge something, i think i was just aiming too much |
