So my old PS3 finally downloaded the patch, and I've played several games, so I decided to throw my input in on the new build. I would much appreciate it if you guys would throw in your own feedback in the comments below.
First impressions were good. I joined up a game and found that hit detection has improved vastly, at least for my assault rifle. It seems either all guns have gotten a damage buff, or armor/shield bullet resistance has reduced dramatically, because I kill people and other people kill me twice as quickly as before. My second game I get the new map with the large tower in the center. This is where I begin to notice bad things. This game, I have my militia logistics fit all sorted out, so I can go back to doing what I've done best, but it seems bleedout time has reduced, because I can't get to anyone with my syringe before they die. The weapon change button has gotten a massive delay before the weapon selection wheel appears, and it seems I can no longer do a quick tap to change my weapon quickly. With it being easier to die, it seems many people have become snipers, and I can't move ten feet from where I spawn before I lose half my armor from a single shot from some sniper far, far away. I end this game with a bitter taste in my mouth. My third game is increasingly uneventful. I manage to revive one person, but people still die long before I reach them. Grenades seem to have a radius buff, because I get a large number of kills just chucking random ones out in the enemy's general direction. I see a large number of LAVs roaming the area, but no HAVs or dropships, despite being given a large reserve of SP from the get-go.
Overall, it seems this build follows a trend the others have been following, that is that they offer a myriad of new great features, but come with a slew of new exploits for the less virtuous to take.
TL;DR- Mostly good, but bad additions make me give this build a C-
EDIT: Round 4. I put a point into laser rifles and a point into active scanners to see what they were like. Laser rifles (I was using a standard) are pretty good weapons, unlike the HMG they seem to have gotten the right rate of cooldown for this weapon, although it seems more like a support weapon than the kind you can run around slaying with. I can't make heads or tails of the active scanner, you pull it out and have to hold down the fire button the use it, and I could see no results from its usage. Spawning seems to have gotten an extra mental retardation this build, as I seem to spawn staring at walls, or staring into the face of an enemy. Getting used to this build, I manage a modest number of revives and my nanohive seems to carry more nanites because I used it for a long time and it never burned out. Just realized my faction auto-changed to the Tronhadar Free Guard, though it seems unimportant with the addition of corps. Speaking of corps, I met no organized squads in my first four games, though after my last game, it seems team-work has become even more powerful than before, so corps will likely become a large influence even in the beta.
Revised score B- now that I have gotten a tad bit acclimated to the build, though there are still a few changes that were made I disagree with. |
