In TDM matches where it is just ground troops vs ground troops, it is really fun and engaging. But once vehicles and snipers start to enter the arena, the experience sours and has a bitter aftertaste. Getting randomly shot at by a sniper nested in a place that you cannot see, or is extremely hard to get to, being shot at by dropships planted on top of buildings, or hovering above like the annoying insects they are, invulnerable tanks rolling in taking people out with ease, jeeps driving around in mass numbers etc etc.
The thing is, the only real effective way to take out snipers and vehicles, is to specialize in that field. Otherwise, there really isn't a dang thing you can do. But with ground troops, they are universally vulnerable to all types of combat types; vehicles, snipers and other ground troop soldiers. If I am playing a TDM match, I don't want to have to change my class just to take out a few players (and that if I am specialized enough to do the job).
I believe TDM matches should not allow snipers of vehicles. Save them for what they were meant for, objective based matches. Let us ground troops have fun playing against other ground troops, and not be pestered by annoying snipers and vehicles that make traveling around maps a annoying nuisance. |

By refusing to adapt, you die a deserved death. |

Close built up maps discourage snipers, so playing tdm on the biomass and communication small maps wold take care of this. The tight areas make vehicles less effective also. Maybe some outposts(I think that was term for biomass sized complex) with out the entrances wide enough to drive tank in, and lots of tall towers to give cover from dropship gunners. These maps would lend themselves to infantry combat, the more open maps to vehicles/snipers.
Maybe some maps with 2-3 built up complexes vehicles can't enter, but open space between for snipers and vehicles, the infantry will know they are exposing themselves to hav/snipers when they sprint to other complex. Could lead to teams deploying decoys in militia to help proto-scout to make it across to deploy multiple droplinks in next complex for dead decoys to spawn in anti-infantry fits.
Ground troops would include ground vehicles, I think you meant infantry only. |

I find that the maps are large enough and have enough objects to be able to put enough space and cover between you and a vehicle/sniper. The last build I specialized in reviving and assault rifles and when I saw a sniper off in the distance id just go switch to a miltia sniper rifle and take them out if I can then switch back. Im not a big "run and gun" person tho, I like to have a strategy to handle the situation Im in. |

WTB, one 'invulnerable sniper outfit'.
I'm glad you aren't one of those people who just goes and makes a post about something without trying it. 'Cos they are stoopid
Dear CCP:
I strongly feel that any classes that have a chance of being able to kill me should not be allowed into a game I am playing. Such games should be specially customised to my class, just like happens in real life i.e. Somalia and Afghanistan. Not being shot at by people who can kill me makes me stronger and improves my game. Thanks CCP. |

TDM is a game mode for kids. I really hope we get to choose what kind of mode we can play this next build. If you wanna play a TDM match, there are many games that does it a lot better than Dust.
And seriously, you have a problem with snipers in a TDM match? They're the easiest players to kill. |

We should add signature radius reduction modules so that we can sneak up on snipers & kill them. And anti-vehicle weapons that can lock-onto follow and destroy enemy vehicles. |

Thing is there are plenty of specialists. I play AV so when I see those squares appear on the map I get all excited. There are also quite a few people who specisalise in hunting down snipers as well.
I think the vehicle changes worked pretty well last time round - far more balanced matches now and I wouldn't like to see them excluded from any match type. |

Far off sniper annoying you? Take cover, retreat to safety. Call in LAV. Drive at full speed towards sniper. Launch car at sniper. If missed crushing him then gun down at point blank.
Does the job, everytime. |

No matter what class you are playing as, you still have access to the best weapon on the battlefield...communication. If you are not using it then you are playing with one hand tied around your back.
Also, regardless of mode, this is a team-based shooter. So squad up or die my friend. And your squad should be rolling as a balanced unit. AV Gunners and Counter-snipers should be accessible to deal with all possible contingencies.
Shoot, move and communicate. It really is that simple. |
