So I was thinking along the lines of AA and how future air vehicles and the power of air superiority and air dominance would affect the ground and, i tried to com up with tactical counters. The AA point defense would be deployed from the MCC once it gets running it launches 15 drones who float out in a 2 rings around the installation and then attach them selfGÇÖs to a part of the map, from there they no longer move. The outer ring would have 10 PDD(point defense drones) the inner ring would have 5 PDDs. I think each of them should do a small 150damage shot and fire at a medium pace since the strength of the PDD would rely in numbers to defend an area. I also would think each individual PDD would have a small range when compared to its AA role but would rely on overlapping radius to actually destroy vehicles and would only keep airborne stuff out not actively seek and destroy
Each individual drone could be destroyed by mercs, they could be temporarily shutdown by EMP weapons and they would loose efficiency near jammers like any lone external thing would however they would all focus fire on one target if its in their collective range using the original installation tower as a hive mind if thatGÇÖs destroyed then the all its PDD are shut down.
This would be useful area denial for air vehicles for a team and would fill that much need AA role when more aerial stuff is added. The device is primarily a way to keep vehicles out since most would take notice of it once they received that first PDD blast and know to retreat if they donGÇÖt retreat and try and plow though the combined might of the PDD which would have increasing overlapping ranges as you went in would destroy any aerial targets
this is jsut a general idea finite numbers dont matter for the idea to work |

my thought for a AAA system is a turret installation dropped by the MCC, consisting of a two to four barrelled autocannon system.
it's characteristics would be a fast tracking turret that does not do as much damage as say, a railgun or missile installation, but can more effectively target and track air vehicles, bracketing them in a stream of autocannon shells.
in automatic mode the turret ignores ground targets completely, but will engage any enemy air target that comes within its gun range. when controlled by a player, however, the cannon turret can engage both ground and air targets.
give it a chance to overheat, like an HMG, as a weakness (or a finite amount of rounds before the turret takes time to reload itself with another ammo cassette) |

well i assume we will get standard gun based AA installation and maybe vehicle turret versions, i also think we would get installation and vehicle turret lock-on missile to give us direct AA power.
however this is about a possible area denial installation that could defend an air successfully from multiple aerial threats. the inherent issue with a lock-on missile turrets is the time it take to lock on and then fire while missile installation would be great ways to smash precise targets out of the sky it slow fire rate would be a problem for multiple assaults. as for a autocannon like AA piece it would be able to spray the skies with proximity explosives but it would only be able to cover one direction where as this this would be able to give 360 defensive coverage it wont have the more direct AA power of a missile based of autocannon base it would be able to passively and constantly give complete coverage.
Any thoughts on this its self? |

will give my honest feedback
here's one problem with this idea: each installation deploys 15 of your drones by your description. so if you drop two such installations on just your side then thats 30 drones, if both teams drop two such installations thats 60 drones, and so on. It quickly becomes a situation where the PS3 has to draw and keep track of all these different drones all at once.
Do you see the problem?
btw: in response to the reply that you gave: a turret has 360 degree rotation

well it could be relatively expensive or maybe due to some in game physics you cant have two so close together also this is more to set up a perimeter from aerial defense when people need it its lack of active fire means most people will go for more direct methods. but something that keeps then from being to close to one another would make it doable. besides this would be pretty cool and it suggest a suggestion
ps. turrets can turn 360 but they can only be looking one direction at a time. |
