So after looking through the forums and reading the information about DUST and how it will cross over into the world of EVE, I was left with a few questions and hopefully someone who may know already or a Community Dev/GM could provide some insight on this matter.
I have been an EVE player, have played for over a year and a half and love the game as well as the community, for the most part it is great and have since moved over to DUST because I am invested in seeing it become an amazing addition to the EVE universe. As such, this brings me to my question about how the communities will cross over, not just the in-game interaction.
1) Cross-Community Forums: As of right now the DUST players have their own forums, granted they are in beta and are in restricted access but it is safe to assume once the game goes full release, there will be a forum section. My question is, will DUST players be given access to the EVE Online forums to interact with that community and vice versa. There are many possibilities that would then be open to both groups of players.
A) ]The ability to promote cross-corporation recruitment, giving DUST and EVE players a chance to respond to threads and figure out how to get in contact with each other in game-out of game.
B) ]Roleplay opportunities within the Intergalactic Summit thread, EVE has always been a heavily roleplay invested atmosphere, granted it is not everyones cup of tea but it is for some people and because DUST is a console game, there really is no ability to rp or promote creative content through writing in its current state. Obviously the ability to rp with the pilots on the forums and creating immersive content will do good to bring everyone together.
C) Community Relation. There is no reason to keep the two communities divided, granted these are two different games but at the same time they are one in the same and there will be more opportunities for cross community cohesion if cross-forum access is granted to players, this is simply an echo of the above suggestions.
2) The ISD Volunteer Program. This is bar far one of the most critical and important parts of this post. The ISD Program as far as I know is currently restricted to active EVE players and nothing has been said official or otherwise (that I am aware of) regarding DUST players applying to participate in the ISD and its sub-divisions of volunteer work. This is a suggestion as much as it is a question in regards to the plans, if any, to include DUST in the ISD opportunity.
In my opinion, just because a player chooses DUST over EVE does mean they know any less about Lore or are any less dedicated to helping the community and I feel that DUST players should be given the same opportunity, even if DUST simply gets their own version of ISD that is exclusive to this community.
Thanks for reading!
