i doubt it.
i bet they confused sony's release with dust's release. if this game were to be released next month it would fall flat on it's face unless they managed to fix all the problems within a coming month. |

Maybe you should actually watch the interview. He didn't confuse the release of some random game he otherwise doesn't give a **** about with the release of the new PS3. He was specifically asked about free-to-play games and specifically mentioned a "full blown FPS" called Dust 514 coming out next month.
I'd say either the game is going into open beta or is actually being fully released. Probably the former. It's not unheard of for F2P games to have an open beta period that does not end with a wipe. In those cases, even though there's the caveat of it being beta, it's functionally identical to release. |

OP's link claimed it's a "release date". open beta isn't release. I'm not going to site and listen to what big money waster sony is going on about just to the shred of relevant data. i read OP's link and commented. also PC games is very misinformed saying that the dust servers have merged with EVE. |

I'm not arguing the fact of the open beta thing. it is very very likely that will happen and is being supported by the japan showing and new PS3 stuff.

There are two flaws in your argument.
1. The CEO of Sony does not represent CCP. CCP is its own independent development studio and is not bound by Sony to release any game whenever Sony feels like it.
2. CCP has not made any official announcement on when the full game comes out. The only announcement they did recently was that the Codex build will come out next week and that was only posted publicly on IRC (internet relay chat).
It's hard to listen to the source regarding Dust 514 when the source is not CCP. |

According to what I've seen from CCP it's just that Dust beta is being bundled with the new PS3 version coming out. And since it will be free to play when it goes live the Sony PR stuff pretty much glossed over the difference. (As always this is beta and my understanding could be flawed so nothing is set in stone but I very much doubt a live release so soon. Read the recent CCP IRC chat log in the sticky and you'll see what I mean) |

Read the IRC people. This was discussed in detail. There was no mention of a release date. All he said was there is a PS3 that is comming out with dust predownloaded on it. My guess is this just means a PS3 + merc pack and beta access. I would be very surprised if the release was before December. You have to think about all the stuff ccp wants to emplament that's not there yet so stop worrying about a release date and worry about what matters right now. Like where the **** are my patch notes.  |

CCP is calling each new beta build a release. The full release they are calling launch. The new ps3 comes with beta access, and new closed beta build is released next month(next week, but after Oct 1rst). Line between open and closed is getting really blurred if closed beta comes with console, nda still in affect.
I guess for dust purposes, open is when nda is lifted and can be accessed without merc pack/beta code. Launch is when the final wipe happens? They said no more planned wipes in beta after next build, but a wipe at launch is still planned. |
