Since the Valor Scout Dropsuit is EXACTLY the same as the Dragonfly Scout Dropsuit, and the currently ONLY way to obtain the Valor is alongside the Dragonfly, the Valor Dropsuit should've been made a Heavy Dropsuit instead of a Scout Dropsuit.
Though I doubt it would happen, if it is at all possible it would be very nice if it would change. |

1. Assault (Raven) 2. Logistics (Sever) 3. Scout (Dragonfly) 4. Scout (Valor)
Not only are there two Scout Dropsuits, but they both have the EXACT same stats. One of them should've been a Heavy Dropsuit. Since the Dragonfly has existed for a longer period of time, the newer one (the Valor) should've been a Heavy. |

Can anyone else verify what he's seen? Was he mistaken?
I don't mean to doubt him, it's just that if CCP releases BPOs for each Tier-I suit purchasable by anyone for Aurum, the Militia Dropsuit economy will immediately grind to a halt.
Why use any Milita Dropsuits when you can entirely skip over those BPC's for much better BPOs? |

Why use any Milita Dropsuits when you can entirely skip over those BPC's for much better BPOs? Well, maybe ppl who don't want to spend AUR yet? Also, maybe i'm wrong, but the whole point of militia gear is that they are BPOs not BPCs (maybe some equipment isn't, i can't remember) Most Militia gear is BPO at the moment (apart from HAVs n dropships) but it has been mentioned by CCP economists that they will be changed to BPCs before release as too much free gear is bad for the economy. They will be very cheap, maybe only 100s of isk each but they will be single use and manufactured and sold on the market like everything else eventually. It is better for the economy as it is all ment to be player run like Eve. Here is the link to the feedback thread about all the Militia items becoming BPCs. It contains a copy of Developer IRC statements about it, but the most important portion is on the second page:

Yes, militia items will become consumable in the next patch. They'll also be very inexpensive and should be easily affordable even if you happen to go 0/10 multiple matches in a row. Starter fits will never become consumable and will always be there for you to fall back on.
Overall, the philosophy with the reward system is that you should be able to comfortably play using militia and standard gear and still be earning money most of the time. The intention isn't to bleed you dry, since that doesn't make for a very fun game :) The low earnings after we patched weren't intentional and it later turned out that there was a fairly nasty bug hiding in the reward system: militia BPOs not contributing to the rewards at all and thus as everyone was playing with them, the overall rewards were consistently too way low.
Since we couldn't fix the broken code, we temporarily upped the base reward level. The rewards that you're now getting after the hotfix are more on the level that we intended. Proper fix will be in when we patch, but the reward level should remain fairly close to what you're seeing now. Pester me if it doesn't, it's my job to pay your wages.
The goal obviously is to have a player run economy run by constant sales of BPCs. However, if all of the Tier-I Dropsuits are available to be purchased as BPOs there simply will be almost no sales of BOTH Militia and Tier-I Dropsuits in the near future, after everyone gets their hands on the Tier-I BPO they want.
Before these suits were given out there were only 6 known BPOs (4 Skinweaves, Dragonfly, and Toxin) for the next build and only 3 were above Militia quality. Now there are 9 BPOs and 6 of them are above Militia quality. As more become available there will simply be less sales overall as no one needs, nor wants, the lesser quality BPCs. Also, some people will be content to just stay with the Tier-I equipment that never expires rather then spend a fortune for better equipment that is expended upon each death.
Should the game be changed to include materials, such as that which are in EVE, then even every Dropsuit could have a BPO equivalent and there still would be a healthy player driven economy of material sales, but if there is no way for DUST players to obtain the materials on their own without help from EVE minors then there simply never will be a material requirement in DUST.
Therefore, until there is a way to encourage the growth of the economy while having a large variety of BPOs, the number of BPOs, and the ways to obtain them, should be severely limited. |

crazy space wrote:They can change the rewards when the next wipe comes... Well it would be really useful if they did.
Otherwise they would need to change the stats of the Dragonfly to differentiate it from the standard Tier-I Dropsuit. This way, the Valor would still be identical to the Tier-I, but the Dragonfly would still have its place. Neither should be entirely greater than the other, just one excel over the other in some assets and be less valuable in others.
Unfortunately, due to these Dropsuits being given out just now so close to the next build, I really doubt that we will see any changes done to them as drastic as changing entirely which class they are for.
***EDIT***

Where has that been said? |
