Well this is a minefield so I'll try to step carefully.
I am a kind of player that basically goes systematically through each skill, level it up to 5 and then starts to use the Proto whatever I've just unlocked. My 3 loadouts all have a proto suit, gun, shield extenders, dammage booster, CPU uppgrade, armor repairer, grenades and so on. I can do this of mainly two reasons:
1. I'm a little good, I earn a lot of ISK. 2. I supplement my inventory with AUR items, as of now I use an AUR gun, suit and nades. (Not Tuckers)
I don't have a problem with paying with real world money to support CCP and generally "do my part" to ensure continued expansion of the game and its universe in the future. If it were up to me, I'd gladly pay a montlhy fee just to be excluded from this whole economy thingy, I want the best equipment available and I want to play, simple as that.
So what I want is the possibility to buy a proto suit once. This may cost a lot, I think anything up to about 50 Euro is fair, less for modules. If I can spend my "hard" earned real world money, lets say 3 times the going rate for a normal retail game to fully proto my character out, I think this will qualify me for "doing my part" in regards to supporting CCP.
Before you all start screaming "No way man, thats definately pay to win" just remember that this is an old man speaking. I don't have that much gaming experience, I don't have the reflexes of a 16 yearold, I can't even see properly. To be honest, I need all the help I can get. And I don't really see the problem with letting the "old guard" pay for this game when its only just by giving us a slight advantage we payed for. Its not like you can't buy the same stuff with ISK as long as you play well enough.
Another thing is that dieing much is a great cost. I'm no KDR kitten but I don't exactly want to throw all my cash at this game either. When each death cost you, in real world money that is, this will make most people play cautiously and defensively. This leads to a slowing down of the pace and in my book the game would be much more fun if I could just "throw myself" into situations without worring too much about the cost of dieing.
My idea could be carried through in many ways; 1. It could be as I said, pay for it once, keep it forever. 2. It could be a monthly or even yearly fee giving you access to the chosen item for that period of time. 3. There could be some sort of monthly fee for a "package" of free to use proto stuff. 4. ??? 5. Profit. |

CCP wants Prototype suits to be "your sunday best", so I don't see why they should add a permanent Prototype suit. |

Based on what CCP has said about Dust, and what they've done with EVE I don't think we're going to see Proto BPOs at any price AUR, ISK, or real world cash.
Your best bet if you've got the IRL $$ to toss around for it is buy up AUR and Merc Packs then convert all of that into ISK and just stockpile a massive reserve of the gear. If you have the liquid assets on hand all you'll need to do for a run is restock your fitting by 100+ once every great while and you're good to go.
It's not quite "fire and forget" granted, but it's pretty close. |

I see where your coming from, but this pretty much makes the game pay to win in my eyes. It could be argued you can already pay to win. |

I am opposed to the idea of proto BPO's. The idea withe tese is that they are supposed to be really expensive to restrict their use to the most dire of situations or the most effective of squads. If their were proto BPO what would stop people from fielding them over and over again regardless of their losses?
Just as an example I was recently in a game with the warriors corp, all of whom are notorious for using proto dropsuits to the exclusion of every other type of equipment. They are also quite good. When my corp mates and I noticed them there was a fair amount of apprehension about the game. The first 5 minutes of the ambush went as we expected. Them, working as a well oiled, proto machine grinding our less disciplined team (which we were trying desperately to organize) into a pink froth while we tried to wrangle the randoms with us into helping. By changing our tactics and focusing on a single member of their squad at a time we were able to break up their offensive, killing each of them repeatedly until it became too expensive for them to use the proto suits any more.
Ultimately it was a close game that we won but we probably would not have if the other squad had a free and limitless supply of protosuits. People are not willing to take the huge ISK losses that come with spawning as a proto over and over again, which is a good thing since it allows people with lower sp totals to have a better chance to win in a game against them, provided they work together well.
As it stands proto equipment is highly useful but limited by its cost the BPO you are proposing would remove that cost barrier making them have a truly unfair advantage. Luckily CCP seems to know this and hopefully will never come out with proto BPO. Its like having a EVE Titan that you respawn with for free after being podded, not CCP's style. |

I see your point. I don't agree but I understand.
I'll probably use proto gear no matter what so it wouldn't make much difference, except perhaps even more income to CCP... |

Why not have a suit that is proto, costs alot of aurum and once you buy it you restock it with ISK and it would be alot cheaper than regular proto suits.... kind like proto insurance |
