So, Eukesei asked me if i had any knowledge about what you guys at CCP have planned to compensate loss of actual real money to server problems. Even though the amount of money that will be lost will most of the time be kinda small, i guess it's still no reason for people to lose items they bought without compensation.
At the moment, nobody really cares as it's a beta and every AUR will be refunded after each reset. But when game is released, i guess people who will lose even 2 euros or $ to a simple game freezing may want to ask for their money back. Wich seems kinda fair to me.
I'm not discussing the current technical problem with the precursor build. And as much as you will try to make the game more and more stable, we both know there's no way a MMOFPS can be 100% stable.
So, what's your plan regarding "real money - technical problem" ? |

I'm guessing none, i don't think theres a way they could do it for people randomly freezeing up or the server crashing, i'll just be using isk fits when the full game is out and AUR ones for special occasions =)
EDIT: If it is on their end they say for e.g the server crashed they could maybe put a system in place so that no one loses anything that entire game, but as for problems on our end i don't think they can do much, otherwise people will just unplug their internet if they were going to lose some good stuff. |

i agree with the fact that it should stick to server side problems. But when your game freezes, i'd say there's a log or something that is generated and could be retrieved.
I dont plan on using much AUR fits either but i think it's a good question to raise. |

yea, its not just game freezes that steal your money either. would i really want to pay real $$ for a swarm or forge gun when the tank could just OHK me as soon as i spawn? (i know this is not a big scenario now that tanks are nerfed).
also, i bought a 7 day booster, my last 24 hours were not awarded to me. my merc had the 24 hours left in the Augmentation but i wasn't receiving the boost. i emailed CCP and they told me that 7 day booster means 7 days and not 7 days of game play... wtf.. that is not my issue. my issue is you took my money, told me i have time left and are not awarding me with that time... such BS. i know how the boosters work. there is definitely some stuff they need to do.
apparently support didn't understand when i told them my character has time left in Augmentation. they instead insult my intelligence by telling my 7 days means days and not game time. DUH! i'm still P'd off about this. in my thread others also complain that their last 24 hours do not work as well.
here is my thread on booster bugs: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=323058#post323058 |

incase you guys didn't know, there is going to be a skill wipe next week. This means that you lose all of your stuff and SP. In other words everything you did during this build will have been (Paper wise not in information to the DEVS) for nothing. But the bright side of all this is that you will get ALL of your AR back and there is going to be another skill wipe before the game goes live at release so you'll have to go through this again.

before trying to say people are QQing, try and properly read what's written.. I mentionned the fact that this thread is not about CURRENT loss of AUR items in the beta but when the game is released. when there will be NO WIPE for you to get it back. What happens when a player says "hey, i just lost 5 fits that costed me almost 2 bucks and battle server just disconnected"
This is anticipation to raise a question that dealt with properly in advance could avoid CCP some problems in the future.
So please, when you dont read a post, dont reply to it. You will avoid looking like an idiot.

That's why AuR items need to be permanent. But cost 10$ or so a peice. That way we can all support the game , and not get ripped off doing so. Sure AUR items are cheap but losing real money to stupid things is always frustrating.
So listen to this post CCP. It brings up real issues that are going to need to be addressed. I want this game to succeed but like all f2p games I see this game only being supported by a few "whales". People who drop a good amount of money on a regular basis.
I do not mind spending my cash on any game. Just don't rip me off, and make me feel like I'm gettig a good deal in supporting it. The way the death and item system works in this game though makes buying AuR items very depressing. Should I really pay real money for an item that gives no benefit to the game other than saves me some IsK? Should I buy a digital item that can diss appear due to a mistake on your end, or my connection? Why?
I don't want to make his game pay to win. But as it stands at this current moment AuR items are useless and there isn't much incentive to buy them... IMO they SHOULD be slightly better, or permanent versions of ISK items.
CCP needs to address these issues.

Its too much of a burden for them to do that. Logs can get pretty long. I'd rather they don't waste time with that. All AUR you use will be reimbursed anyways on resets which we have one coming up soon.
Also to the post above me. NO PERMANENT ITEMS. It will break the economy and eventually ruin CCPs income. If I need to pay just 50 dollars to get the items I want, I'll never pay anything again since I have what I want. |

And the amount of ISK we'll be getting in game since we have permanent items will be ridiculous, i'd say they need to make AUR itmes atleast abit better, you can get them early without the skills needed to buy ISK itmes and that's a step in the right direction. |

In EVE if you lose ships (all purchased via ISK) to some server side bug i.e. it dissapears as you undock or the EVE servers die and your stuff goes awol after you log back in, a reimbursement request can be put in to CCP. Logs will be checked and if it can be proven, reimbursement will be made. Prepare for many 'the logs show nothing' and if its an IP Provider problem (or anything on your side) you are out of luck.
Difficult to imagine this system changing for DUST, particularly as more RL money is involved. |

They need to make AUR items worth while and stop nerfing them. People need to stop complaining. If there is no advantage to buying AUR items than DuST will fail simply because not enough people will buy anything.
If making certain AUR items permanent is game breaking than what about BPOs? I'm not saying that there should be prototype AUR times that are permanent. Just some.
I'd love to see more types of 30 day boosters that effect game play but can also be bought with a lot of IsK. Like 5% damage increase. Or 10% speed while running. Something.

It is a beta, and any real money (AUR) used will be returned to your account at the resets. One definite tomorrow (Oct. 1st) and at least one more very likely, but not definitively confirmed, later.
If you have a similar problem after launch, where a crash or game error causes you to loose assets, you can petition this to [email protected]. |

BPO's are all low level items. Very low level. As for AUR giving advantages, that is a very fine balance, one that I'm still afraid CCP will fail in achieving. You do NOT want a Pay2Win system, and AUR is already borderline that, with the most grievous items finally removed.
What AUR allows you to do, and what it should be limited to do, is to get suits or items for AUR, instead of ISK, in case you are incapable of affording the higher end items. Also I can accept the AUR items allowing access to higher tier items at lower skill requirements. This is still a grey area P2W wise.
I've previously suggested abolishing the AUR system entirely, and allow Dust players to sell 5 and 10 day PLEX cards to EVE players instead. Maybe that will help bring down the PLEX cost somewhat. |

No one loses real money. As soon as you buy your Aurum you have lost any real world monetary value the purchased items have.
If you don't agree with this then you shouldn't be playing. |

This is all well and nice but CCP needs to make money. And honestly, AUR isnt even barely pay-to-win at the moment. Except for items that dont have any ISK equivalent yet. But clearly, the difference between ISK and AUR items is so thin that we shouldnt even be bothered.
Same goes for the "get advanced weapon early". As in fact, what makes and advanced weapon\suit really better than the previous one is the combination of basic stats AND skills, using "blindire AR" doesnt make any difference compared to standard AR. Yet, people will buy blindire and give CCP money => Me Happy.
But abolishing entirely AUR system ? i mean, how do you fund the game.
Anyway, this isnt about AUR system but about how CCP plans to protect itself from those demands wich THEY WILL GET, no doubt about that.
Quote: No one loses real money. As soon as you buy your Aurum you have lost any real world monetary value the purchased items have.

Not so sure about that buddy.... It would be like sayin "oh you bought a PSN game and it suddenly doesnt work ? Too bad you lost any real value your money had when you bought the game" Same goes with a game like Fifa Ultimate Team. And believe me that when you lose cards to a server error or freeze, you can ask EA to investigate and they refund\give back your cards if they find any proof. It happend to me.
Also, as there has been a lot of 'hacking" of accounts going on, EA had to reimburse those as well.
So, next time you make statements like that without any actual knowledge, and imply i shouldnt be playing. (where in fact i anticipate something that could harm CCP). Please refrain from participating. |
