The menu system in this game is a bit of a nightmare. It took me about an hour to find & add my friend & get in a chat room - but how do we talk. It says "push to talk" - but push what button?
I managed to get a squad invite & accept it, but it gives a long error code - is this not yet working? |

Once in the squad, hit select to open comms - highlight the squad, press x and activate voice, also in top right corner make sure option 'push to talk' is activated. Should work then

No you dont have to pay - its the button next to the universal one.
The push to talk button is the LEFT D PAD |

go to the options and cut off push to talk and cut on voice chat. Then activate voice in the squad and talk all you want without worrying pushing button while playing. |

using the controller, hit select, and go to the bottom of the tab list..."create channel"
create a channel,
add your friends to your Contact List, found in the Social Sub-menu, then invite your friends to join the channel you just made.
You can now text chat with your friends.
Squads:
currently only 4 man squads are available, hit select and highlight then click the Squad tab. Within the squad pane highlight an empty member slot and click it, this will take you to your contacts list. Invite 3 friends to (online) squad. You can voice chat within a squad without paying AUR to buy a Universal Voice Transmitter. |

ill make an easy list,
1.) go to your options menu and turn voice on and PTT off (or on if you prefer) then before leaving the options menu press "X" to save or suffer doing this every time you load up dust.
2.) dependent on having a UVT:
with UVT: if you have a UVT, you now have access to voice chat in squad, team, and any custom chat channels you create. To activate voice chat just highlight the tab, press "X" and select activate voice. a caution tape looking bar and a green light will appear on the tab boarder signaling you did it right as well as speach bubbles appearing next to the names in chat who have voice in that tab on.
without a UVT: you have access to squad & team for voice, everything else is just text chat. also your options for muting, inviting to chat, removing player, checking info, etc etc is also located with the same option for activating voice depending on what box your on.
local currently has just text chat
and for the love of god those of you with mics adjust your sensitivity so i dont have to mute you, if i can hear your kids in the background, dishes being washed or other household cleaning, or taking a ****.
your ***** way too loud and adjust your sensitivity via the PSN XMB |

OK, thanks for the help guys. I am still struggling a bit because when i press left on the D pad it just moves my cursor between buttons.
Ill try this again tomorrow, getting tired. |
