Well its not just the HMG. The Mass Driver is also infamous for its unusual non-abilities.

It must be said though that my ability to shoot an opponent multiple times in the face with a shotgun and have no effect is rather concerning - much like their one shot kill of me immediately after.

P.S. as a scout suit user, mostly, the SMG and HMG are both nightmarish. A quick spray from them and i'm almost always down instantly.

On the assumption of course the HMG decides to try you for CONCORD Law section 3.6 under criminal code 514, segment 45 of part B : "Any and all Scout Suits that ceases movement for longer than 0.000145 seconds, but not exceeding 0.0002 seconds for any reason including but not limited to intentional neglect of engaging muscle behavior of the legs shall absorb no more than one of every twelve rounds fired upon him/her."

Continued on Part C: "Upon accepting the projectile, be it consenting or non-consenting, the defendant must than relinquish all assets upon said dropsuit to the nearest earthen surface and promptly plummet to the ground in a heap consisting of no more than two parallel limbs, and no less than one perpendicular limb."

And ending on Part D: "Should defendant have more than two parallel limbs or less than one perpendicular limb - CONCORD authorities shall be notified for additional charges up to and including an afterlife lasting no longer than ten seconds, and no less than three."

I'm now convinced that anything within the reticle of my heavy machine gun disappears into the abyss. I tested this theory on an enemy LAV that was sitting by an objective and got only a few 'x's from the hit detection realizing that perhaps a handful of my 300 round magazine actually hit the broadside-of-a-barn-sized target.

Proposition (in all sarcasm of course) Voodoo (x1) - Reduces chance of the void consuming the weapon's rounds by 20% per level.
