The bad hit detection makes it hard enough to kill enemies but when you combine that with the fact that everyone strafes and jumps around it gets pretty hard. The closed in maps are alright but anyone more than 3 meters away won't even take damage. Today I shot a heavy at point blank range while he was standing still and it didn't even register. I'm not asking for a nerf or a buff to anything but I'm sick of dying after sneaking around being the enemy only to find out the hit didn't register and I'm now screwed.
I would also like to ask for a shotgun with a wider reticule that sprays bullets over a wider area but does less damage. It would be more like a support variant rather than a killing variant.
Leave your thoughts on shotguns. Do I just suck at using them? Does lag factor into it?
I use a shotgun 90% of the time and although they can be deadly, the HT in close quarters can be an issue sometimes. I have had times where I'll load a couple of rounds into a Player at point blank and do 0% damage.
By all means, I don't claim to be any sort of CQC master, but I do believe that I have some knowledge of the role. I usually get between 15-30 kills a game, and can say that it's a double edged sword. The shotgun really captilizes on peoples lack of awareness, and your task of killing an enemy is made so much harder if you are spotted.
My tips would be:
* Try and stick to areas where there is plenty of cover, and minimize the time you spend in vastly open areas. * Avoid prolonged battles. 90% of the time most weapons will beat the shotgun in battles that last longer than a few seconds. Try and bait the enemy into an ambush if the battle looks like it's going to last a little while. * Don't let yourself get kited by the enemy (they are backing of whilst firing at you as you advance), 90% of the time they will kill you. * Always look for routes that get you behind the enemy. * Don't bother with crouching, or aiming down the site (just fire from the hip). * Always stay on the move. * Don't be afraid to back out of engagements.
The last 1 is more crucial than you may believe. On numerous occasions (even up to now) I have thought "Sod that, I'm going to kill you!", and I have ended up getting killed in the process.
As I said above, I'm no CQC God, but I hope the tips above help you. |
