One thing that I was very disappointed when I started playing this game was the fact all the skills in this game are passive. There are no abilities what so ever. Skills either give the character a passive bonus or allow you to equip new items. That's it.which is kind of boring because this game would benefit greatly from having more MMORPG elements added to it.
Now if they ever did come around to adding abilities how would they work and wha would they be?
I was thinking alongthe lines as up to three per character load out. All abilities consume stamina and some are either unique to certain drop suites or can be used by all. For instance...
Heavy Dropsuites could have some type of shield over drive where you hit it - and they become an immobile fortress that can take an amazing amount of damage, but can't move or rotate.
Scouts could get some type of short teleport or "blink" if you will that they can hit to teleport 10m at a time. W Assault suits could get some sort of speed over drive that allows them to get a short but drastic burst of speed to close the gap in a fight or move to cover.
Logiatics can get a type of AoE field that buffs themselves and their teamates along with reviving anyone who is down.
These are just examples but what I would like to see is activated abilities in a sandbox system. We can level and use any skill and put it in a slot . Add a skill that requires a massive amount of XP to upgrade tha increases the amount of abilities one. An have equipped at any one time. It would add a layer of tactics and strategy to the game that separates it from its competitors.
Now I'm not asking for abilities that allow us to call down demons and fire lightning bolts out of our asses. But something that would add an other layer to combat, character creation, but tie into EVE lore... Even though I would love to shoot a fire I icicle out of my eyes and hit drop ships though ; ).
So what do you guys think? What other abilities would be nice to have? P.S. sorry about grammar and mistakes I'm on my mobile so I'll come back and re-edit this. |

Could be interesting, though these abilities would have to consume a fitting slot, most likely the equipment slot as they wouldn't be supernatural, they'd be hardware. As for your "blink" suggestion, that could be something like a drop uplink, toss your "blink-point" out in front of you, and trigger a small warp-bubble around yourself to "blink" forward. This would certainly add a fun element to the game, whether or not it would be viable, balanced, or game breaking would require some play time.
In short, I support this as an idea, though I would require some testing to determine whether or not I'd really want it in the game. |

No suit specific abilitys, hower a blink module, cloaking, riotshield/forward facing bubble shield etc would be cool. Having it fit into the grenade slot for a clear trade off and easy button mapping would be good |

These would have to be modules, and not features of the suites. I agree with Avenger.
The shield booster from Eve would be good, as it is an active booster. Eve also features other active modules; I'm pretty sure they are already in the works - maybe not exactly what you propose, but something. |

don't get disappointed yet. EVE has drugs called boosters, which are activated and give short term bonus's to different things. They should end up here too. Can't speculate on likely effects though. |

The active abilities in this game are the guns and equipment themselves.
I would like to see some more equipment variations such as a deployable shield or turret, as well as radar sensors and jammers. |
