still encourage you all to actually listen to it so you hear the finite details, will edit post with a link once we have it ready- but here's some of the key notes.
Could you give some elaboration on the mercenary/capsuleer "bases" that appear on the overview settings in Eve Online?
Brings the link between the two online - dust mercs will be able to fight in certain designated planets which show in Eve. Part of ongoing test with player feedback to improve feature over time. Foreshadowing of what's to come.
Demo of how link starts to manifest was revealed to the developers. Watching an orbital bombardment with different ammunition on the planet.
Could you give some elaboration on how districts will operate, and how the number of districts per planet is decided?
Districts - depends on location of planets and their security of solar system. Balancing for what makes sense - rolling out high sec and fanning out from there. Watching it super carefully.
AEON AMADI'S NOTE: Based on what was said I can only speculate that the Open Beta and/or Next Build (not sure if we're going to open beta yet) will be on Tranquility and feature High-Sec specifically as it doesn't really jack up anything in Eve Online.
Could you give some elaboration on the effects of Time Dilation from Eve Online in regards to Dust 514?
How many eve players will come and aid the merc buddies on the ground - part of beta testing. Could be that a lot of people show in Eve or it could be that the number of Eve appearances via ships is in a more controllable number. Don't know. Testing.
Create events such as a mock-"CTA" to test the early dust battlefields and see how it plays out. The whole issue with time dilation gets complicated with spread out battle servers for Dust - more sensitive environment for Dust 514. We don't want to disappoint the more vocal community.
AEON AMADI'S NOTE: Time Dilation is a feature in Eve Online that, when the server is under stress, puts the game into slow-motion so that actions/commands are sent to the server in a timely manner as to not cause lag.
Where are Mercenary Assets stored - and can they be destroyed in order to cut off the supply line as in Slay?
Currently individual assets are stored in merc quarters like station hangers in Eve Online. Now, as far as when mercs go to war or an expedition, where does it go to? That's still being discussed - several different models are being presented.
What sort of benefits will be available for Mercenaries who choose not to co-operate with sovereignty holding alliances when planets in that space are conquered?
Current model idea is Dust mercs who control district(s) will have a market built it to generate some sort of isk/wealth for them. Benefits are greater for participating with a group (corporation).
Some entities may have some issues with larger alliances - mavericks who choose to operate without Eve Online player support. Is it best to work with an alliance or to work for the highest bidder? Testing will show how this is likely to play out.
Could you elaborate on how combat versus Rogue Drones will take place?
We have the initial 3d models made - progressing smoothly on that end. Right now we want to do form of co-operative gameplay where buddies can join in and kill waves of them together.
Some of this is in full transparency we're testing a fair bit of it - we'll start seeing more of that soon. Drone combat is a survival/horde mode. It's important to allow people to get their feet wet in that before they jump right into death match/corporation gameplay. All that said, this will be an absolute way to get isk/SP - we're not apologizing Dust is all about the long term multiplayer game, building the corporations themselves. If they want a single player game, they need to find something else to play - but if they're looking for the biggest, richest multiplayer aspect then this is what they should be playing.
Where on the road-map are Minmatar/Amarrian MCCs, Vehicles and Turrets?
We do want them to have their own vehicles - this is probably going to be sometime next year as we're increasing our production capacity. We're looking at expanding a lot more of expanding the current dropsuits. We're working on fixing the issues present with core gameplay before implementing all of the racial aspects.
It is a beta and there's absolutely no intention that any of the races will be ignored. Everyone has the assets in the game - even in terms of salvage.
Where on the road-map, if at all, can we expect to see a Character (avatar) Generator?
Further down the line we want you to have similar capabilities of character generation as that of Eve Online - our focus is on giving core gameplay in as smooth environment as possible without all the current bugs that we are currently experiencing in, fixing them in the beta. We want to get that down first.
What are the restrictions for using a Skyfire Battery against an Eve Player and are they required to fire on the planet first?
The skyfire battery is currently in initial conceptual stage - no definite way to say how they can fire back.
The intention here is when you get to the ultimate level of everything the intent should be no limitation for Dust mercenaries firing into space, just as there are no limitations on an Eve Online player firing down on the planet. There shouldn't be a requirement of firing in space means that you got shot at first - we want to perpetuate that age old question of who shot first.

How are we looking at the interfacing in terms of is it just an eve add-on or is it going to become a requirement for political environment for eve players?
Everything relating to Dust is certainly something that you as an eve player want to take a part in, ignoring them at their own perile - an advantage for people who bring more troops on their sides. Something that shapes the political landscape - adding a new fascete. It starts a very low level (text chat between games) it's almost like in the real world if some nation came out with a new weapon and other nations chose not to use it even though it was a technology advancement - you could choose not to interface with Dust but it might be at your perile. It won't be a requirement that eve players will -have- to get a PS3 and learn Dust, it won't be cardinal part of gameplay, but there will be people who want to do so. You can imagine how multiboxing can be taken to a whole new epic level. It's an additive thing in the end.
There are a bunch of people who are killing themselves (in development) for you guys - everyone here is thrilled to see this reaction. |

Thats probably unlikely, whats more likely is that its going to be similar to EVE automated pos guns i.e. if a ship gets too close to a district and they are not blue'd to the owning corp then it will be shot at.
Currently there is no way for a dust merc to sit in the seat of a sky fire battery, aim at the sky and press the boom button. simply because the graphics engine between the two games are too different.
there may be some basic controls for the Field Commander though but thats to be seen.
Disagree. I think it's going to be manually targeted in some way, shape or form before it will fire - much like we have to manually target where the Orbital Strike will fire at here in Dust 514.
That and the fact that Eve Online players would ***** up a storm if they just got blasted upon warping to a celestial. |

you wont get fired upon by going to a celestial, if you look at the wiki there will be the planet and then there will also be district beacons above the district that could be considered low orbit, once you warp to one of those you can click to "connect" to that district if there is a battle happening there, perhaps if you connect to that district and are not blue, perhaps thats when hostile actions occur
So just never warp to a district satellite, would be the easiest solution to avoid it entirely if it's all automated. Would be too simplistic considering what you have to go through just to use an orbital strike. I doubt they'd just make it automated, especially if we wanted to select a higher value target such as a Destroyer which we know would be used for Orbital Bombardment by comparison to, say, a frigate who just happened to be there playing support. |
