Edit #1: Any "dubstep" sounds would just be that type of sound, not really dubstep.
Edit #2: If anyone else would like to propose ideas for other themes (full themes, or just bits and pieces) I will gladly add them to the OP, so long as the are relatively detailed, and you provide links to pictures/sounds/videos for reference.
I would like to propose that we have various themes for Tac-Net, that effect sound and sight.
I would like to propose the "Hallucinogenic" theme.
Instead of gunfire/explosion sounds, I would like to have various laser/techno/dubstep sounds. Perhaps a grenade could sound something like a grungy drop (0:26).
For the visual related to explosions, instead of fire/smoke, there could be brightly colored shapes and patterns, like so. Edit: As per suggestion, this effect could be used over downed allies as well, to be more easily visible to those carrying nanite injector. (Credit Pending)
And finally, we get to the objectives. I would like to see something like this or this streaming up into the sky above a marked objective. Perhaps red for offensive, blue for defensive. Maybe it could even be a different shape/pattern type based on if the order came from your squad leader, or the field commander.
As suggested by Necrodermis: Have this of this nature happen as side effects caused by narcotic usage. |

I am not suggesting literal dubstep, just that grungy electronic bassy sound that has become popular with artists like Vexare, KDrew, and of course, Skrillex. If you go listen to some songs by those artists, skip to the drop, and listen to that electronic sound. Now, imagine it slightly less "wobbly", bass-ier, and in place of an explosion; that is what I am suggesting.
You also don't understand that I am proposing only one type of theme, with three components (audio, ballistics visual, and command visual) and I am also asking for others to propose Tac-Net themes that they would like. Is there a theme idea you would like to propose in place of the electronic dubstepy sound?

I'll toss that into the OP, as it's definitely viable. However, I will also say that it's not exactly what I'm hoping for. The Tac-Net system that currently displays enemy markers, objectives, vehicles, ammo, the map, and HP, is an Augmented Reality system. What I'm looking for, is the option to theme that system, and customize it to the preference of the mercenary. Perhaps this could be caused both by player customization, and drug side effects? |

On a different thread someone proposed that mortally wounded teammates in need of a medic should have towering beams of light coming from them to signal their location to nanite injector carriers. This would be a practical and visually appealing use of augmented reality. |
