Yea, that's going to ruin CQC combat.
This smart bomb thing sure sounds an awful lot like martyrdom in the COD games.
Depending on what slot it uses up and how wide a radius it has, abuse potential is high.

I read about this somewhere on the forums from some official post, and as soon as I read it I immediately thought "martyrdom".
Seems like that is exactly what it is, you die and then explode after a certain period of time, not at all unlike in COD where you can drop a live grenade when you die. Essentially the exact same concept.

Well that's good news. Let's hope it's effective only under ideal conditions, otherwise every FPS player who has ever played COD will be on this like flies on stink.
My guess is that it will be mostly useless on large map objective type games, but once you venture into those tight corridor TDM matches, it may become a problem.
Either way should be interesting to see what happens with it. Wonder what variations its going to have? (aside from standard, advanced, prototype stuff. As in are we going to have variations that explode the instant somebody dies? (kind of like the thukker grenade explode on impact stuff vs delayed fuse grenades). Cause I could see the insta-explode being much more prone to abuse and overuse. |
