Gamers are a pretty fickle bunch, more so console gamers imo. If they see a crap / unfinished product, they'll likely just ditch it and call it out as crap. They'll also tell their friends not to bother as [insert AAA FPS title here] is better.
With all the best will in the world a single build is not going to fix this game. There's systems and sub systems planned for this game that simply do not exist yet and are crucial before any balancing can be done, let alone bug fixing.
There's also many game breaking bugs and issues. We all know them and if you don't then the'yre pretty hardcore issues. I've never had my PS3 hard lock before beta'ing this game and it still does it at least twice a day. Invalid fittings. Game crashes causing items to be lost. Game crashes wiping out diminishing returns on SP.
These are but a few of them and they're all game breaking to the point where if they exist at release, the general gaming public just wont tolerate it. Free or not free.
I didn't sayt that they should release DUST next month ...
And it's the first FPS/F2P on console. So we don't really know what's gonna happen in a year... Is it gonna begin with a little community growin up each days ? Or working as waves, following the major patches ?
Well, of course they just can't release it now. |

I discovered EVE when it had been out/live for 3 years and wished I had got in sooner, I never knew it was still technically in beta. I stopped playing because it seemed too much to take in.
My point is had I been on EVE from the start I would still be playing it, I would also have put up with the bugs and glitches but would now be reaping the benefits, as with all things EVE related its about patience and perseverance and in time it will be worthwhile. In the meantime it has cost nothing (unless like me you bought in with the merc pack) so why not go along and see where it ends up, I'm sure the first guys on EVE have long forgotten how badly designed they thought that was by now.

The point is that CCP probably has talked to Sony about their expectations as far as release goes, and the CEO guy dropped the news before CCP wanted to reveal it. The guy probably has never played Dust and has no idea about the game, but from a strictly business vantage point knows what the release schedule looks like for the games coming out for the PS3 anytime soon. |
