Because I know my death wasn't a lack of skill on my part. Now kill me with a militia weapon (or equivalent weapon I am using), and I will gladly admit that you bested me with skill.
Right right, you all are going to say "proto doesn't offer any substantial difference compared to militia", I beg to differ. Just by using an advanced grade AR (GE-38... or something like that) people were almost effortlessly killed, a couple bullets and they go down. And it only has 3 extra HP compared to the militia AR. May not seem like much on paper, but that 3 HP makes a huge difference in the field. I went from getting a pretty sad KDR each match to almost consistently being somewhere at top. Although I did awful tonight due to severe lag and a ton of proto 24/7 players in every match I joined.
Oh on another topic, what is the deal with the pay-2-win cavity thukker grenade? Are we going to be getting any ISK variant impact grenades in the final game (or different build)? That thing is ridiculous, guaranteed kill every time.
Also don't forget to give the post directly below this one a thumbs up! |

Aim? What is that? I wasn't aware this game had any "aiming" elements to it.
The aiming mechanics in Dust are among the worst I have ever seen in any game in my life. I think even Far Cry 2 gets a 1up on dust in this category, which is extremely sad.
If the aiming mechanics are ever adjusted to something normal and half-way decent, it's going to be funny to watch all the "so called" great players end up on the bottom because they are now out-matched by people no longer held back by poor aiming mechanics that only 1% can adapt to.
Gimp my aiming capabilities, and you might win. Give me true control over my aiming, and you will stand no chance. |

You have full control over your aiming. L1 aim in, R1 shoot. People these days blaming the aiming system. Pssshhhhht
It's a little deeper than that dude, seriously.... You only hurt the game by implying the aiming mechanics are fine.

Yeah CCP should remove that line of code: If player has skill, then gimp aiming mechanics. If player is kitten, then give 100% hit chance. Yeah OK another crappy player blaming hit detection which may or may not be an issue but if it is, it's an issue for everyone not just skilled players. Go practice.
Aiming is gimped for everybody, only a very slight few know how to adapt, I deem them as "special" cases.
Aiming is wrong, please don't be a fanboy and accept it for how it is and ruin it for the rest of us. |

IMHO lag is a little bad atm which has many effects the important 1 is: You are 1000ms behind the server. Your Client is 1000ms behind the server. The dude infront of you is rendered by your client which is 1000ms behind the server. You point your gun at dude infront of you and crosshair is red so you shoot. The client which is 1000ms behind the server thinks you hit which causes a shield flare, however meanwhile at HQ (on the server) where you shot, was empty space so no damage is taken from the dude infront of you. Meanwhile you rage on about hit detection. The special few as you refer to them, do what you should always do in FPS's and thats lead your shot, shoot where the guy will be not where he was just standing. Once the lag issues are resolved this wont be as much of an issue but i still recommend you lead your shot when it is fixed/
You don't understand, I am not talking about hit detection due to lag (which is a problem as well, don't get me wrong), I am talking about just the aiming aspect of the game. Which has nothing to do with lag or anything tied to the network.
Aiming is simply BAD. The feel is wrong, the acceleration is wrong, the deadzone is wrong... everything about the aiming is wrong! It is very unnatural aiming in this game, which is counter-intuitive to what it should be.

Unfortunately its a FPS and aiming is important. I find when i aim at a player and shoot he dies fairly quick if he doesn't get me first.
When aiming at the hip or sight aiming all i do is twiddle the left analogue stick until my crosshair/dot is over the enemy and fire. Similarly when using mouse and keyboard if i move the mouse my crosshair moves, i line it up with the enemy. It all appears to be working. I haven't got PSMove so cannot comment if that allows you to aim but i suspect it does.
But aim is player/skill dependent so if the aim is bad it might be time to practice.
That's my point, the aiming in the game doesn't aim where my brain tells it to aim. Although somehow, in nearly every other shooter game on the planet, my aim goes where my brain tells the aim to go. Coincidence? Maybe perhaps Dust has the only real aiming controls while the rest are fake?
Dusts aiming is wrong, off, incorrect, flawed, faulty, improper, imprecise, askew, defective, invalid, erroneous ... not sure how many ways I can explain this to you.
Sure, aim crosshairs on enemy and shoot, get hits, and get kill. But getting those crosshairs on the enemy is the key, and I don't mean super basic high-level stuff, like "Move right analog stick", but rather how the controls react when I move the left/right analog stick.
I know you are just trolling me, so that's fine. As you know exactly what I am talking about. But there is the explanation anyway. |

And i wont run any militia gear cause i know the other stuff is by far better. Invest some SP and get them aswell and stop moaning about that you speced into the wrong direction. Proto weapons require more SP invested and much more ISK then your crappy militia gear. And a good player wont just run a proto AR no he will also get himself better armor/shield to be aible to survive longer. MY fit allready cost me 120.000ISK while you sir use only militia which cost you how much? Oh yeah i forgot it you got BPO's you dont loose ISK when you die. And about thukkers: as long there are sponging scouts there will be thukkers that simple.
Actually, the loadout I have now costs me a little over 90,000 ISK. And not sure what a "sponging scout" is, but Thukkers from the matches I played were from players who got right in the battle and payed2win against many with utter ease.
