as any one who's played dust knows been stealthy is pointless because some one get a look at you even just a vauge one there whole team sees an arrow above your head meaning the only remote way to be stealth is to be fast, i would love to see cloaking or anti radar/ no arrow about your head stealth tech be put into the game.
also i would love to see bows and arrows put into the game becuse who would wana sprint around with a bad as techno-bow.
(edit - bows would fire super-sonic projectiles and deal large amounts of direct damage but would have a penitly of slower reload and not been able to carry to many arrows - second edit some one if you read down is agensts the idea of bows so to any one els who reads this what about futuristic cross bows its a stealth weapon and has a lot of potential to be an all round effective weapon. ok iv been thinking about it and talked to some other dust players who liked the idea, but how about this: instead of a conventional cross bow, replace the string tension fingering mechanism with a magnetic bolt launcher, Then as well as basic ammunition have specialist ammunition - remote explosive bolt - acid bolt - tracer bolt - rope bolt for climbing - add a auto reload so you could have a clip on it, and there you have your specialist weapon made for silent killing based off a crossbow ) |

KAGEHOSHI Horned Wolf wrote:This takes place thousands of years in the future, and you want bows and arrows? however "techno" the bow may be, it still makes more sense to load the projectile in a gun, and fire it (power, efficiency, etc). Dropsuit command skill reduces how easily you are spotted by enemies, and there will be some form of cloaking coming. i have made a edit why i want bows and thank you for informing me about drop suit command i must have completely looked over it :P, also YAY cloaking :) |

Because it's a silly idea, if I am to be generous. This isn't Turok, it's an intergalactic war, maybe you can tell me what soldiers you see on the battlefield with bows and arrows instead of just silenced rifles? well a scout might use a cross bow instead, i know i would if stealth based game play was a thing, i run fast and hit hard and if gun sound was a stealth factor id much rather have a cross bow then a smg, the only reason i really brought it up is because its not compulsory to use it simply another means for a particular play style. With this sort of thing it really comes down to personal preference, a cross bow that could be = efficient as killing some one with a gun is perfectly possible, you might ask why i say why not, if you want to make a point about why it definitely shouldn't be in the game do you have a reason or is it your personal preference because if it is just your preference we are on equal ground. |

Quote:you might ask why i say why not, In an argument you have a positive and a negative assertion. The onus is on the person making the positive assertion to prove his argument, this is called the burden of proof. To give you a real world example imagine it's a court case, you are the prosecution (the argument is true/the accused is guilty) and I the defense (the argument is untrue/accused is not guilty). As the defense I don't have to offer up proof that proves the accused not guilty/the argument untrue because lacking a valid argument that it is true the accused is assumed innocent/the argument invalid. Quote:if you want to make a point about why it definitely shouldn't be in the game do you have a reason or is it your personal preference because if it is just your preference we are on equal ground. Incorrect. Even if it were just personal preference a techno-crossbow in a setting like New Eden is a thematic oversight that makes no sense. But if you need a reason it's because it's infinitely simpler to make a silenced weapon than it is to make a bow of any kind as powerful as a rifle. ok iv been thinking about it and talked to some other dust players who liked the idea, but how about this: instead of a conventional cross bow, replace the string tension fingering mechanism with a magnetic bolt launcher, Then as well as basic ammunition have specialist ammunition - remote explosive bolt - acid bolt - tracer bolt - rope bolt for climbing - add a auto reload so you could have a clip on it, and there you have your specialist weapon made for silent killing based off a crossbow |

The crossbow is outmoded by guns, end of story. dude i dont even think your remotely reading what im saying. your no one important and dont have the right to speak for every one, has it crossed your mind other people might like the idea, im seriously curios if it has or not, in any case im gunna stop replying to you since i get the feeling your just trying to egg me at this point. |

Only one problem with that.
As soon as you fire a shot, or even do stuff, your cloak is deactivated. as much as i might like that i have a feeling do stuff includes hacking and sprinting witch is sorta my MO but ill look into it |

In other words, a modern day assault rifle is ten times as powerful as a modern bow or crossbow. Or, more meaningfully, a modern now or crossbow is ten times less powerful than a modern assault rifle. Compared to a hunting rifle, the disparity is even greater. So, assuming the weaponry of projectiles managed to evolve equally, a bow might make a heavy cough if it hit center of mass. Now, that's assuming equal evolution of capability. We are assuming that the idea of a bow - essentially, elastic material providing the force to drive a projectile forward - will somehow evolve to the same extent that simple projectile ammunition from today has evolved to plasma rounds, etc. in DUST. In order to keep up, a bow would have to break the fundamental laws of physics. It would have to put out significantly more kinetic energy than it has of potential energy when fully drawn. Bows work great to kill deer. They don't work so well against unbelievably heavy armor.
in my rant to the other guy i sorta dropped the bow idea but a crossbow type weapon that use spec ammunition and a launching system similar to a rail gun, personaly i think that might be more realistically deadly, you seem like a smart person whats your take on the what in essence is a bolt launching compact rail gun, it would probably have to bulid a charge tho to maintain its compact form.

The current in game sniper rifle is, essentially, a miniature rail gun firing flechette rounds.
i still like the idea of spec ammo types ie explosive/ remote explosive, tracers to tag vehicles, acid or even rope bolts for climbing, hypercritically if those ammo types where part of the game wouldn't seen silly to have a rifle do all that, well every thing besides the tracers those could make sense from a rifle but the other stuff hypercritically speaking would make more sence to shoot it from a bolt gun, im dropping the crossbow thing because using magnetic launcher its a bolt gun basically

I'm no one important, but here's the news at 11: NEITHER ARE YOU and either way it's irrelevant. Dust is not set in Star Wars or Exalted or any number of science fantasy franchises where you can handwave the idiocy of using a crossbow in the far future by saying 'lol it's kitten magic'. New Eden is a sci-fi setting where a freaking space crossbow makes as much sense as Turians running around with mass accelerator longbows or Master Chief using a laser ballista to take out a Covenant cruiser. And your crossbow suggestion reeks CoD kiddy. ok fairs fair but if your read the first post this was mostly about stealth i only said the bow thing becuse i thought it might look kool and it escalated form there im just gunna change the title, also i never i was important i was just telling that guy i didnt want to be egged any more |

Any other ammo type would destroy the suppressor and harm the gun its nice to know there are positive points i over looked about this idea. thanks. |
