I agree that the game needs prone. The first fps I ever played without prone was Halo. That is why snipers on halo have to hop around and learn to quick scope. If you don't include prone you make the only way to not get shot at range either strafing or bunny hopping. That is just childish and unrealistic. I don't believe you can have any level of immersion if you have to do that. When I want to hit the ground I should be able to, my guy has knees. |

Correct me if I'm wrong but if we are playing "immortal soldiers" that just transfer consciousness to a new body when the old one dies why would we bother with half stepping to the objective? (ie going prone) In that state of mind I think it would be the equivalent of laying down on the job, or taking an unauthorized break... Violence of action on the objective is the name of the game. Also, generally as a sniper you should only be taking 2-4 shots from any blind you're in and then moving to a new one so they can't pin point your location, assuming you're dropping targets and don't have a meat shield with you. Not a rule but good policy as I see it. One I don't always follow myself... |

A 'no' with no explanation or juxtaposition is not constructive. The biggest problem I have with no prone is there is no form of aim stabilization. No weapon could ever have a bi-pod. I can understand omitting it to avoid campers, but in a game that has organized teamwork, killing snipers is quite easy, especially if a game offers stealth. Using snipers as fire-support is a over-powered strategy, but a strategy easily countered. I like the concept of having to react to an enemies strategy with an opposing one. As it stands it feels like halo on a big map. |

y not prone with a swarm launcher? its shoulder mounted. just make going prone limit how far up you can look, and also heavy weapons shouldnt be allowed to be used while prone, actually heavies would prolly have a hard time getting down to the ground anyway |

Halo? On a big map?
Where you can change your entire loadout without having to pick up random guns? Call in a buggy, tank, or dropship whenever you like? Actually have to stabilize your Sniper Rifle due to sway? Not all have the exact same stats?
Yeaaaah... No.
And I for one fully support prone. Ranged attackers have been using it for centuries in combat because it WORKS. Smaller profile, more stability. Even when you don't have a bipod, it's still much easier to brace your weapon, on account of the ground is generally more sturdy than a tree, chain link fence, wall, etc. Could also reduce some of the stupidly high AoE damage from grenades, too.
Of course, it would probably take eons to program it in, given the games current state. I'd rather trade not having prone for instead having, say, servers that auto re-route you when they are full, or a spawning system that doesn't bear a blood-oath against you and keep spawning you in right next to the Great Red Blob. |

immortal soldiers doesnt make them ******** pawns,
and imortality doesnt make going prone a bad idea..... actually imortality and going prone dont really effect eachother at all. no one thinks "OH! im imortal! now i can snipe standing up!" |

I'm sorry, I should have been clearer. I don't mean the game as a whole, just parts of the gameplay.
I agree that it isn't terribly important and that other things should be put in before it. I'm just saying it should be on the list. |

As much as i see the advantages and disadvantages of having it in i would like to have it in so +1
But it aint vital Bad Company 2 worked perfectly with out it in fact id say it was the best FPS ever made on concole, Planetside 2 has also said it aint going to have prone in it so it fine not to have it if the rest of the core mechanics are up to scrath but in dust there is a bit of woek to be done on them yet (hopefully at least) |

You guys that are saying no because of camping, guess what snipers are already camping. Going prone has nothing to do with camping, it is another tactical weapon. Also just saying no is seeming kind of childish, If you don't like it give a reason. Its called debate. |

+1 It makes zero sense that my merc can't go prone. Camping is only really a big deal in low health high damage games like Call of Duty, because lying down makes it harder for your enemy to get that first shot. In a high health game its not a big deal because you can't move making you an easy target to hit. |

Oh no, I completely agree with you. I was just trying to think of why it wasn't included from the start and voice that thought from the view of "in game". I should've been more clear, my apologies. I personally like the idea of more options on the field, whatever form they may take.
I'm absolutely a noob when it comes to this online gaming and forum stuff. I'll elaborate more in any future posts if needed just let me know, cruelly if you must... |
