I tested out landing the dropship in our MCC spawn for one whole game. It seems my dropship explodes when I land it no matter how soft the landing is. Used about 7 militia dropships testing it out.
You know how when you get close to the ground it forces the dropship to hit the ground? Well I started tapping L1 when it got to that point, perfectly level ground, no enemies able to hit me, literally centimeter by centimeter each time I landed, and around the 6th time it ALWAYS exploded. This is how I landed the dropship every time. Unless nothing happened.
1st dropship: Exploded after the 4th landing. 2nd dropship: Exploded after the 6th landing. 3rd dropship: Exploded after the 6th landing. 4th dropship: Exploded after the 2nd landing 5th dropship: Exploded after noob team-mate hijacked it and didn't know how to fly it, crashing into a mountain. Thanks TROLLTHERTEEN. 6th Dropship: Exploded after the 6th landing. 7th dropship: Didn't explode even after going to the skycap, pointing the nose down, and crashing into the earth at a thousand miles per hour.
So it turns out CCP just clicks a button when they think you should die and lose your outfitted 300k ISK Dropship |

I am curious about the spontaneously exploding dropships. I've used one to get to a tower objective so that I could set down some uplinks & accidentally landed it on it's side. The dropship itself didn't appear to be taking any damage, but when it spontaneously combusted I sure did. |

I've landed a couple upside down after rocketing to the earth like example 7 and not taken damage. I guess there called dropships for a reason. |

I'm having a difficult time with trajectories in this build. Last build I was able to throw one at an HAV then kill it with my anti-material fit & the collision damage it had taken, but it just doesn't throw quite right in this version. Also, expensive as hell to practice with. |

I've tried landing on the MCC and I've noticed that it's not completely solid. You sink into it a bit and start taking damage. Land on top of buildings, or behind your team's redline if you're wanting to practice landing. |

Land on top of buildings, or behind your team's redline if you're wanting to practice landing. When landing I found it is best to sort of "hook" the dropship around. when coming down at more than preferable speeds quickly point the thrusters in the opposite direction and lay on the R1 button to boost thrust. Do this just before landing on the ground and it should turn your dropship around in a semi circle and help you land more safely |

Nah, I just throw the motherfu**er into the ground because it takes less damage than if I were to land it softly. The only thing is I can't get out to repair because I still take damage when I land, still losing multi-thousand ISK dropships because of CCPs incompetence to fix anything in this game. |

You can still squash sniper and not die, though they usually get pissy about it and spawn with swarms. Still fun. |

The inability to get out and repair your dropship is a definite problem. I'm sure they'll have it fixed next build but it sucks that we have to deal with it for now. New build on the 25th!!!! Oh, wait, hmmmmm |
