Logistics is the "support" dropsuit. It has more module and equipment slots than other dropsuits, as well as the extra PG/CPU to power them, although it isn't relegated to a sidearm only, which would actually be pretty crappy.
A grenade-throwing dropsuit doesn't strike me as a very good idea. If you want to spam explosives, grab a mass driver. They blow right now because they're buggy as all hell, but once they're fixed there wouldn't be much point in a grenade suit.
And I'll also say that the game really isn't about specialization in this sense. The dropsuits are not at all things that pigeon-hole you into a role. You can snipe with a heavy suit effectively under certain circumstances, or run around with an assault rifle in a scout suit and play gunfighter. Really big restrictions like sidearm-only on non-pilot suits, or a suit which exists simply to have two extra grenade slots over an assault suit, are too specific. They'd be good for very few roles. That's a big deviation from how the game works currently. |

No it doesn't. Why should that apply here? They're two entirely different games. But anyway, this is a game with far fewer suits than EVE has ships. Maybe down the line really specialized suit variants will be added, but making classes of dropsuit which are themselves very specialized would be a bad idea.

Your fitting defines your role, not your suit. The suits you're suggesting would define your role right out the gate. I don't think that's the approach CCP is taking, and I don't like the idea of the game going that route. Maybe if they never fix mass drivers they can add a grenade-laden variant of the assault suit. As for your issues with support gear, the problem there is the equipment and the skills. Whether the support player has a pistol or a rifle isn't the issue. |
