I agree it is great, but Dust 514 is far from finished (development wise) and there are still features that will soon be implemented that we are looking for; some of which won't be seen until next year during the semi-annual expansions. |

Yeah.
But Eve Online didn't have much going on to start with when it first launched. According to those who were around during its beta and initial release, the UI was horrible, tutorials usually left you adrift in the middle of dangerous space with a pea-shooter-like ship with a very unenthusiastic "good luck" message, and there were a ton of imbalances.
Today, Eve Online has become well balanced, graphics and UI have been vastly improved, emergent game play has blossomed to its full glory, it has its own player-elected council, a strong economy that can recover as effectively as its real-world counterpart, and it took 9 years to accomplish.
@Gcember
I agree. Nine years from now when we look back at how far we came, we will be like...
"Holy ****, dude." |

I really hope there are a lot more player like you out there. This game isn't going to be for everyone or even for all FPS fans. I just hope enough non-EVE players will pick it up to make up for the capsuleers that don't have a PS3. It's a shame it's only for one console but there's no real way they could do it for the XBOX as well. So I'm glad it's for the console that I actually have.
No matter how great Dust 514 becomes, some FPS players will still not like it. Some players are just too fanatical over games like CoD and Halo just like how some of us here are fanatical over Eve Online. Surprisingly, according to either Massively or Ten Ton Hammer, Eve Online has seen an increase in subscriptions for a very ironic reason:
Its extremely hostile nature.
Apparently, there are more masochistic or sadistic players out there than we think. |
