The game should be smart enough to restock your modules only when you need them restocked. As it stands, if you restock the whole fit, you might be restocking items you have plenty of supply in (e.g. You have 50 weapons but only 7 of each module). |

It used to work like that (methinks...haven't been around then), but when you then try to restock suits that share modules, you can't reliably restock all of them. Losing one would also decrease the number of others then. |

I see what the OP is meaning, and yes, please make this happen. It drives me mad. Tarn is missing the point here. What OP is saying is regardless of what modules are shared, if i restock a fit and tell it i want to have 10 fits, but i already have 5 AR, 6 grenades and 4 of each module it should just restock 5 more AR, 4 more grenades and 6 more of each modules. It shouldn't buy 10 entire fits on top of the stock you've already got. It should find the difference and stock only the pieces missing. |

Or they could make drop suit available from the load out screen |

I am not missing the point, you are missing mine.
Example: I have two fittings, both using the standard Assault suit. I restock both of them to 50, now I have 50 Assault suits, but I would want to have 100. With only 50 suits, I lose one of both fittings, when I die. |

Right, in which case the "smart" system would realize that you restocked your Fitting 1 to 50 AND your Fitting 2 to 50, in which case it then looks at what total you've already got and purchases the difference to make sure you have 100, not 50 but if you already had 20 of each it only purchases 60, not a complete additional 100 on top of the 40 you've got. You dig? I get the way you are thinking but it's not what we're talking about.Or at least not what i am. What i'm saying is to keep the sharing but add the ability for the system to calculate what each particular fit needs and add what is necessary on a per fit basis to have the quantity you want. If you had a few rare items you could still "share" them across fittings. There would still be a common stockpile that if you purchase 50 of 2 different suits that share the same AR, in each fitting screen your AR in its slot would show a quantity of 100 in each...BUT.... each fitting count will actually show 50 fittings.
We would need a new system completely, maybe that's the misunderstanding here. We need an actual Fitting Count in the fitting screen just like we have at the respawn screen. If you restock the fitting it does it smart and keeps a running count of each full fitting.
I'm not missing the point,i think the problem is that we are talking about two different systems. You are talking about the problems with implementing it in the current system. I am saying redesign the system entirely to be more dynamic. Does that make sense? Or did i just cause every reader to go cross-eyed? lol
EDIT:
I'm continuing to think more about this. The flaw with my system i see is you end up having a huge inventory if you restock by fittings in that way. Currently i'm at the point financially in the game where i can keep a large number of all items in stock.. If people don't have that ability, there becomes a problem. I personally like the idea of saying "I want 50 full assault fittings and 50 full AV fittings. If they both use the same dropsuit, i want 100 suits in stock." I realize, though, that some people can't afford that. They need to use the shared method that allows them to use each as they need. The best solution appears to be to keep the current system, in a way, but add the ability for people like me to stock full fittings if it choose. Hmmm. I see the difficulty in catering to both scenarios, but both are vaild. I will think about this some more. |

You can actually do this already. Since its not smart restocking, I just created a new BLANK fit with the dropsuit of my choice. You can restock the blank fit and bam, more dropsuits.
But I still stand behind my original post :) |

How would the 'smart' system know, that these suits are used for the 50 fittings of the other suit. It sees 50 suits, it needs 50 suits, so it doesn't buy any. It would be possible to program such a system, but it would be needlessly complicated and probably introduce more problems than it solves (it would need to compare fittings, know when which fitting was restocked to what amount and then calculate from that and the current stock of items which items it should buy)
I also don't see the problem here at all...the only time where I miss a number of a certain module and have enough of all the others is when I just added that module to the fitting. Restocking this to the correct amount is only 2 clicks away. Once I have the correct amount of items for all modules of a given fitting, it stays that way, until I again change something in the fitting... |
