So, quick question everybody? Do you know if it is "to be," or if I am missing something. Me and my poassengers never notice anything in that area of the dropship when I press the button. It is stated in game and on the online manual. |

Sounds interesting but I've never heard of it. If you look in the in-game manual, and the onine manual supplied by CCP, dropship controls display a "Door" button. I was thinking that maybe it allowed us to shoot from windows but... |

Also, I noticed when the RDV drops the dropship, it deploys its landing gear, which is a nice touch, but then the doors open. |

We're getting new landing gear with the upcoming build. BUT we've always hadn landing gear and it always opens automatically when close to the ground. I think it opens at the same time the doors open. |

Yes, it does, no matter which dropship, but that doesn't change the fact that there is a designated button for door control, and I would like to get some more info and speculation about what this means, and its purpose. |

Flying the Caldari dropships you can see the doors open whenever you get low enough to the ground, its helpful because when they open you know you're close enough people can get in. This leads me to believe it used to be mapped to a button before being made automatic, but the manual and button mapping stuff was already released. |

Probably, but wouldn't it be logical that someone could fire out of the dropship? A merc does it in a trailer for already, so you would think it is a function that would exist. I might be mistaken but still. |

Check the ingame settings for control listings, I believe square is for doors.
I'm assuming with them closed you they provide something for armor but open and your passengers can take shots at people (even if not on mounted guns) because as-is if they aren't on a turret they're staring at a wall. |

I believe the Door button is used for actual doors (Think Hangars?), I believe I saw it somewhere that they asked when Doors were being put in, but CCP didn't comment.. I'll have to try and find that.
But yeah, as it is currently, when you're close to the surface of anything (The Ground, Building, a box etc), your landing gear will automatically deploy and the sides of your dropship will open up, removing the armored bits that were there. They don't seem to offer any extra protection for the ship itself BUT it may prevent snipers from shooting the guys in your ship out of it when they are up. |

As mentioned earlier I always thought it would have to so with the video of a guy shooting out as he's being dropped off.
If you watch when the dropship lands, it's gear goes down and the doors open. The reverse happens when it takes off.
I'd presumed that when the doors are closed the infantry are protected and with them open they can shoot out, but can be shot at. That's how I saw it as working come release anyway. |
