It seems like the only way to be any good at this game is to play it 24 hours of your life. IOr spend a thousand bucks to max everything out.
Skills pretty much guaranteed you will win every gunfight unmatched. A FPS and MMO are polar opposites of each other. FPS's are supposed to be about the shooter's ability to aim and smart planning. MMO's are about going through skill trees and making your character into jesus.
Before I start ranting, I want to say I never thought that CCP or any Devs would manage to get this close to making a MMO/FPS hybrid that is decent. They're close, but not there.
Combine these into dust and what do you get?
A game where if you don't pay to win, you must dedicate your entire life to it. Devs even said it would take 7 years to unlock everything and couch potatoes will probably unlock everything in half that amount of time compared to someone who has a job or school like me.
They can run around and pretty much be invincible because they have everything unlocked and you don't. Unless they can't aim worth a rat's tail.
So you will always be outgunned by the loser who will die from leg clots from not getting up and taking breaks. You know, the ones who are too lazy to get up so they pee in a bottle?
Doesn't this bother anyone else? Like the people who are actually good at FPS's but still get gunned down by afore mentioned loser who's "spraying" with a tactical sniper rifle one-hit-kill god gun across the map with and has 5k Shields. and when you get up close he has a submachinegun that takes you out in two hits.
This will hurt CCP in the long run because if new players spawn-in and are instantly getting spawn killed or sniped by an assault rifle in 2 hits even though they're spraying bullets in the guys face, they will think "Uh, this is supposed to be fun?" delete the game and tell they're friends how sh*tty the game is. |

No. If you can't aim, you use a grenade launcher or a hmg lol.
And I realize that second part. But at the same time, the no lifers are usually the ones with the clans of other no lifers to cause a no-life legion dedicated to pounding casual players, people who do have lives, and the other 10% or whatever into the ground.
"There will not be someone running around with a tank and dropship,AR,forge gun uber-fit." Essentially making this untrue.
I don't know... I like CCP and what they're doing. But it feels like I'm fighting an uphill battle all the time because I'm constantly fighting people with better gear and getting slaughtered in one hit by everything.

Beld Errmon wrote:and so how is this different from any other FPS where you play and unlock weapons?
A lot of people play who play those games are not elite and don't put in 14 hours a day, one thing I will point out is that here in dust there are diminishing returns on SP not sure on the exact numbers but you get a bonus on your first couple of games then after that you start getting 15k sp max a round no matter how well you do.
So what is your solution? you could give everyone the same skills and those players who have no life as you call it would still kick your arse, they play more so they getter better regardless of the equipment.
Let's use Call of Duty 4 modern warfare as an example. You have perks that give you health, reloading speed, whatever. Point number 1: The perks only give slight advantages. Point number 2: You don't have to use 2million SP/waste a week trying to get the correct upgrades in order to actually use the perk. Point 3: you have advantages and disadvantages because you're forced to pick you're 3 perks that might come back to bite you in the arse should you not choose correctly
But in Dust, if you're maxed out in your weapons, explosives, etc. You're jesus. The only way to die is by another jesus or being runover by a dropship which you will probably see coming because you have 1850m range and a semi automatic 2-mag 4burst rocket launcher that can be upgraded so you reload instantly and has a blast radius of a nuke and the damage of one.
There's no way to win against jesus.
meanwhile in CoD, a low level player sneaks up behind you and knifes you in the back.
"Geez that's a long bow to pull for someone wearing clan tags in a beta." After explaining how I've been getting slaughtered by jesus with a grenade launcher. My clan is the only reason I can walk two feet out of my spawn. Why would I stay solo and get murdered by other clans when I have a team full of idiots?
If you can't beat them, make peace with them so they won't f*** you up every game is basically the motive there. |

Daedra Lord9 wrote:You seem to have an obsession over HMGs. By chance have you ever used one? Because I specialize in them. They're a hell of a lot harder to use than you seem to think. They have almost no range, damage, or spread, so you have to be dead on with your shots at a rather short range to get your kills. If you were being killed by HMGs today, that's probably because they were better than you.
Harder to use then I think? The longer you hold the trigger the more accuracy you have. What kind of sense does that even make?
Actually no. I specialize in HMG's too Mr. literal. And of all things to point out in my post, why the HMG? It was an example.
Moving on, the only way to solve this would be a matchmaking system where you're fitted with people near you're overall skill level. I'm not saying that they would have to have the same specs as you, but just have near the same amount of SP invested in skills as you.
This would make it so the Player would be forced to make smart decisions early in the game to be successful and have a general focus on what they want to do with they're character.
Invest too much in Vehicles and you will be out-gunned in a heartbeat. Invest too much in weaponry and you might not have enough shields or vehicle modules or whatever.
This would make the game perfect to me. |

It's impossible to even shoot across 1/4 of the map with one, let alone snipe.
Changed to sniper rifle because I know it's making you cry. |

*sigh* and with this comment you've gone and proved to everyone that your a crap player who is bleating like a kiwis favourite sheep, you look foolish you should spend less time whining here and more on getting better because the problem is behind the keyboard nub.
Haha, or I can go to bed and prepare for college in the morning.
Go eat you're frito lays and hot pockets child troll.
You're saying sniper rifles don't kill in one hit to any body part across the map if you have all skills for it maxed and you can aim at a red triangle?
Just like every other forum, someone thinks they know everything and has to blurt it out to the world so they can look k00l. Can you guys take your AD/HD meds and stay on topic? |

I was just pointing out that you have no valid points about the HMGs, which probably also holds true for the rest of your argument.
But yet you can't point anything else out about it? You have one point, good for you. Now if you have nothing to add, please leave this topic if you know nothing else of the game except HMGs. |

Nuff SaidGäó Does anyone really ? If you have some sort of social life you matter tons more than no lifers
On the social life part, I hate people. I stay away from them. I focus on education and not partying with morons who think booze and impregnating women is fun.
Then again, I like a nice chat with a intellectual who can carry on a conversation without being boring. |

Anax 01 wrote:Is it such a big surprise to people that the big players in anything are "no lifers"? Bigshot CEOs who make more millions than they can spend are workaholics who work upwards of 16 hour days. Actors often work upwards of 16 hour days. Olympic athletes train all day.
Competitive gamers don't sleep well, get fat etc. whereas competitive athletes get all kinds of injuries, undergo surgeries etc. CEOs and actors make boatloads of money, but often end up alienating their families and friends, practically living on a set/their office. That's the cost of pushing yourself beyond your limits to get to the top. As an aside, I'd call a pro gamer several things, but not lazy. I don't know if anyone out there truly pees in bottles, but going for 2-3 days without sleep to make progress and then only sleeping for something like 6 hours is far far from my definition of laziness.
Being competitive means living and breathing whatever it is you're competing in. It means being passionate, driven and not really about having a "life". Those people didn't give "life" up -- they didn't care for it in the first place. Personally? I admire those people. I admire the willpower and sheer focus of them all regardless of field, be they athletes, businessmen or pro gamers.
Now, being a casual gamer myself, I mostly enjoy watching pro gamers being good at their game and pwning others. Other guys watch sports with their friends, I watch games with my friends. To each their own.
My message? Don't downplay other people's effort that got them somewhere higher than where you are now, no matter what the field. If getting to the top matters to you, try harder and chase after them. If not, hang back with the rest of us in the middle of the Bell curve, it's nice and cozy and includes lots of spare time.
That's a good post to end the night on. Let the trolls do what they want, I'm tired should have been in bed an hour ago. |

No lifers are people without social lives so wouldn't that make you one as well. Besides i think it would be better if you balanced social with your studies as being shy doesn't cut it past high school. I'm not saying get drunk as hell but just chill
No because I'm working toward a career to support myself on, then I can have the rest of my life for social time.
I'm not saying I'm a total recluse, most people just bore me or (at least where I'm from) Are republican christian extremist morons who vote for which ever president says they love jesus and will give them gold toilet seats. Or binge drinkers, which I was referring to in that post.

Haha! that's exactly what I do with the charge rifle. It's annoying though because they usually head glitch so that you can't hit them. That's when I pull out my Capture Card and record them in the act and report them. :) We should get a response from ccp if bullets come from the head or the gun. Or has this been asked already? Have not tested head glitching in this game. I'm sure to some it looks like I'm headglitching if they are to the side of me. I only open myself to 25% of the map at a max 50% and then it would be to hit a sniper that has turned himself into a bright red arrow. Anyway quickly go look out your window at your wall. I bet there is a chance you have a head glitching cat. Record that. Its cute and will make you like head glitching. Also this games player base condones spawn camping. Girl called me a ***** when I moaned about us spawn camping the other team. This game is going to be dirty. Better put your gum boots on and get dirty if you plan on succeeding. Edited to add did you get the capture card to do 360 shots on COD? Your mention of headglitching lead me to this conclusion. Secondly my I borrow it. Thinking of doing a 720 off the building on ?plateus?,landing in a head glitch and no scoping some sucker.
You think head glitching originated in CoD?
I don't always want to live on this planet. But when I do, I don't want to.
Edited to add did you get that noob tube kill across the map and spawn kill half the team?
Secondly, can you give me the trajectory so I can be 1337 as you?
Thirdly, lolambush. |
