Skills pretty much guaranteed you will win every gunfight unmatched. A FPS and MMO are polar opposites of each other.
FPS's are supposed to be about the shooter's ability to aim and smart planning.
MMO's are about going through skill trees and making your character into jesus.
Before I start ranting, I want to say I never thought that CCP or any Devs would manage to get this close to making a MMO/FPS hybrid that is decent. They're close, but not there.
Combine these into dust and what do you get?
A game where if you don't pay to win, you must dedicate your entire life to it. Devs even said it would take 7 years to unlock everything and couch potatoes will probably unlock everything in half that amount of time compared to someone who has a job or school like me.
They can run around and pretty much be invincible because they have everything unlocked and you don't. Unless they can't aim worth a rat's tail.
So you will always be outgunned by the loser who will die from leg clots from not getting up and taking breaks. You know, the ones who are too lazy to get up so they pee in a bottle?
Doesn't this bother anyone else? Like the people who are actually good at FPS's but still get gunned down by afore mentioned loser who's "spraying" with a tactical sniper rifle one-hit-kill god gun across the map with and has 5k Shields. and when you get up close he has a submachinegun that takes you out in two hits.
This will hurt CCP in the long run because if new players spawn-in and are instantly getting spawn killed or sniped by an assault rifle in 2 hits even though they're spraying bullets in the guys face, they will think "Uh, this is supposed to be fun?" delete the game and tell they're friends how sh*tty the game is.
Another great point that seems to go over people's heads. How does the new player compete with this?
Like you mentioned in CoD (or other games with perks) there's always a counter...so essentially it comes down to player skill whether you win gunfights or not. Therein is where the satisfaction from the kill comes and that's also why people continuously moan about overpowered killstreaks....they're cheap and frustrating. Getting outgunned or flanked? Oh well, my fault. Getting outgunned because the other player has more cash to invest? That's equally as cheap as Attack Dogz or whatever other crap is in CoD.
Getting killed by a player with better gear in Dust feels exactly the same to me. Even if we both take aim at the same time and are both as accurate, he will win every time. There's no balance to the gun-play. There's no way to counter it other than either buy a ton of gear, or play for hours and hours to unlock everything.
I believe the focus should always be on player skill first and statistics 2nd and the way Dust currently is, doesn't fill me with confidence that CCP will make it this way.
