I leave it off 'cause, honestly, I don't even know what it is really supposed to do?!? Is it a handicap-level setter? I have never understood auto aim in any game. |

If you understand how auto-aim works in dust, please post here. I don't know if I want it on or off. I have tried both and can't detect much difference |

Yeah I feel auto aim shouldn't even be in these types of games. Whoever even thought of implementing auto aiming in online shooters should be shot.... |

Auto aim just seems kind of cheap, no offense to those that use it, but I wish it was not in any game, ever. |

But Jin, what does it do? How do you guys know it is 'fail'. Is it because they called it autoaim?
If I made a button called Easy Mode, put it in game and offered it as an option, would I be fail if I clicked it?
What if clicking that button did absolutely nothing?
Anyone know what it does?how it works? Effects ON compared to effects OFF?? |

I wouldnt mind taking it out all together, but how it is right now is good. I would HATE HATE HATE to see it dramatically increase or make it 1000 times easier to play. 1 thing I hate about alot of the recent shooters is the gross amount of autoaim that some of these console shooters have. It makes unfun and uncompetative. |

Mouse and Keyboard.
If they take out aim-assist, the majority of DS3 users are going to scream the walls down about KBM being OP. And no, it doesn't matter one bit that they have a movement cap, and nothing but keeping aim-assist in will save us from being drowned in "REMOVE KBM" threads. That's just the way it is. |

Well how it is right now i think is good, they dont need to increase aim assist. Thats is the only point I am trying to make. |

I personally think it'd be kind of neat if they just set the currently level as a cap, and then gave you the ability to adjust it to some degree. |

Its just a little drift in the right direction while you're moving the stick. It doesn't seem to do anything at all when you aren't actively aiming. |

I mostly use hip fire which would explain why I see no difference |

I have tried both and can't tell much of a difference, either. Personally, I have turned it off in an effort to improve my own aiming rather than rely on the game to help me. |

In most games it adjusts your sensitivity so that you can get on target and stay on target. Some games also have a sticky aim so that you can better track moving targets. Aim assist is needed more in games with high sensitivity settings so that you can be twitchy and still not be aiming all over the place. It increases playability with a controller. DUST doesn't have a high enough sensitivity where it would matter or even be noticeable. |

If I am correct standard auto-aim pretty muchs follows or predicts the movement of a target when you have them in the crosshair (Makes it easier to keep a target in your sights). I don't believe Dust 514's auto aim has been polished for maximum efficiency.
Auto aim for a non-60 frames per second shooter or completely calibrated controls is critical since due to frame rate and response to frame rate your not actually responding at such a speed and self accuracy that it ruins the experience of combat.
For example Call of Duty functions at 60 frames per second compared to its competitors like Battlefield that run at a industry standard of 30 frames per second. Combat in 60 frames is faster and reaction is more critical for the player compared to 30 frames per second because it gives the person a more realistic combat or intensity when turning corners and etc. That along with polished controls that give you the chance to rise to meet those moments make games like Call of Duty on par with big world battle games like Battlefield. (This whole paragraph is opinion)
I don't know the exact FPS (Frames Per Second) Dust 514 is going for, but if it goes for a standard of 30 FPS like other older games and a semi physics engine in bullets and movement then your going to need an auto aim.
I put Dust 514 combat inbetween Tribes due to its physics setup (can change once polish is achieved), and old school battlefield games :O (side note just wanted to say)
what I miss or get wrong? |
