CCP:
I am writing this after finishing three beta matches. During those matches, I experienced the following issues:
1. Being blown up by grenades with no indicator that anything was near me. Every other FPS I've played usually gives at least a visual clue GÇö such as the enemy grenade getting ready to blow up at your feet GÇö that something's about to go horribly wrong. Insofar as I can tell, that isn't the case with the Dust 514 beta. The magical, mysterious grenades just simply kill you, with no clue as to how they got there, or that they were even tossed your way in the first place.
2. I attempted to revive *multiple* fallen teammates, and it worked maybe one-quarter of the time. The other three-quarters of the time? Nothing. And I generally got killed because I ended up being caught by red dots, and it takes forever to switch from a suppport tool to a weapon.
3. Lag was atrocious. It's worse than MAG, and that's saying something. And, in MAG's case, at least if you had lag issues, it was because the game was running a 64- to 256-player match. In Dust's case, it's struggling with a 32-player match. Yes, I know Dust is still in beta, but man, oh man, having lag like there was tonight is not a promising sign of things to come. And, yes, I do have a wired cable broadband connection, NAT Type 2, 50MB down and 5MB up.
4. Switching from weapon to support tool(s) sometimes brought unexpected results. Diplomatically put, I'd select the nanite injector, and wind up getting the repair tool. Crap like that realy sucks when you're taking fire.
I've said enough for the timebeing. My mood isn't exactly cheery enough to add more to this topic post at the current time. |

Mister Hunt wrote:You must aim for where they were when they died, NOT where they ended up. As far as the grenade indicator, this isn't all the other games you miss so much. If you miss them so much, and can't handle real games, please, go back and play them. Lag? Well, this is a Beta. There WILL be lag in Beta. Hence the Beta part.
Basically, you didn't mention a single bug. So using the title that you did is kind of odd. Oh, and it doesn't take "forever" to switch weapons, and the "picked wrong support tool" is also an L2P issue, not a bug. Thank you, have a nice day.
Oh, I can handle "real" games just fine, son.
Several years of playing MAG with 64 to 256 other players running everywhere, with half of them trying to kill you, aerial strikes coming in, gas bombs dropping and en masse assaults on one's bunker lines all come together to make for a pretty damn good "real" factor that a lot of other FPS have difficulty matching.
A bit more on topic, you don't think that having to revive a player *where* they died, instead of where their body lies, isn't a bug? Never mind the fact that the "revive" indicator is always *where* the body is, not where the player was killed. You must be a glutton for punishment, then.
And, yes, lag is a concern. For all the praise I heap on MAG, it could be damnably laggy at times GÇö and this was the finished product put up for sale to the public. So being in a beta isn't a get-out-jail-free card for Dust 514 when it comes to lag. It's a legitimate concern when the game is having trouble handling 32-player matches. Dust 514 has MAG-like aspirations, and I want CCP to meet or surpass MAG in what they can do with Dust 514. But they never will if you don't let them know about the issues you encounter while testing the beta.
You, too, have a nice day, smart aleck. Don't think I haven't seen your kind before. They infest the Internet, it seems. |

Right now theres a bug. Where a person corps lies on the ground is not where they are. After trying to revive multiple team mates and running into the same problem you described I realized something was going on. A squad mate would die I would run to there corpse. Then they would start saying what they saw on there screen: "Your so close! Just back up a little bit! over to the left there back up." By the time I had received the right marco polo directions there corpse was three feet away from me and I was standing over empty space. Apparently whats going on here is where there final resting place is on my screen is far different from where they actually landed on there screen and came to rest.
I have no idea what causes this but all sunday I was reviving people by standing over empty space not far from there corpse and stabing air with the injector.
Its a pain in the ass and it needs to get fix but right now if you want to revive people you got to run around there corpse to find the magic spot.
One of my teammates mentioned this to me once or twice, too, when I was trying to revive him. I'd forgotten about it until you brought it up again, Corban. I sure hope CCP does something about it GÇö and I'm sure they will once it's properly brought to their attention via threads like this. |

Please use search forum function first for your issue. If there is no thread already, please post 1 bug/issue = 1 thread, so we can easily track those. Making a list of things you encounter may prove to be counter-productive as some important things may be overlooked.
Thank you!

Back on topic, well, I played three more beta matches, with the last ending maybe 10 minutes ago. The issues I mentioned in the OP remain, but I did take folks' suggestions GÇö especially WRT keeping an eye on when the "cheap kill" grenades are thrown, and where a player is killed, rather than where there body ends up GÇö and that made the matches bearable. Lag seemed really, really bad, though, and I was playing between 2:15 a.m. CDT and 3 a.m. CDT Saturday morning. |
