Good Day My Fellow Dust Bunnies,
Well its a new week and time to discuss the new build with the community. First we need to thank all of the previous players who for the last year have been in beta and testing for CCP. My hats off to you guys and girls for getting us to this point in the game. Its thanks to many players through hours and hours of testing that we have gotten this far. Now we enter the last phase of testing prior to the game being released to the public. This last phase of testing is by far the MOST IMPORTANT of the testing we have done for the game to date. This last build and the testing we shall do, could make or break this game we have come love.
As a gamer for many years, I have seen many games come and go. But I have seen good if not great games that don't get a great start out of the gate when they finally bring the game out. This can greatly hinder a game if the first impression of the game is bad. Look at games like Brink, game looked great, sounded like it would all that and a bag of chips. But because of terrible testing, rushed game design the game died very fast when it arrived and has never made its way back, even after drastic changes to the game to get it where it should be.
Players young and old, the first time you get into a new game it has to WOW you and not give you fits of rage because of the issues. If we fail, we may lose the best chance Dust has to change the market of FPS shooters, because we the players of this game, the testers to beat all testers have not done our job well enough.
But I have hope Dust Bunnies, I have hope that all of us will work our bunny tails off and get this game to be the best.
Now there is going to be a few ways for us to test this last build and make sure we get as many issues/bugs out of the way. You can go the regular testing way of playing and finding issues and then reporting them in the correct place in the forums:
Tech support and BugsOr you can openly discuss them here in the open forums for all of your fellow players to give feedback on.
Or you can abuse the game, openly going around with the most OP weapon, gear, items or vehicles and then having the backlash of using them come to the forums.
Now both of these work for the benefit of the community, if you look at the big picture. The players that report little issues, like terrain issues, menu problems, voice chat issues, grouping issue. These are the small parts that we as players see everyday, they are small in size but when you add them all up this is what gives players impressions of a game good or bad.
The players that are "abusing the game" are also testing the game just as much as the other testers are. But they are working on the OP side of bugs and issues, don't discount these players. They have the hardest job in the game, they must abuse to game to get the game fixed. Now whether you do this on purpose or not, you are indeed helping us all. Even now we are testing the nerf to tanks and AV weapons for just this reason. Again we the players must respond to CCP in a way that helps and not hinders the developers, we must see these abuses as just really good testing for the future of Dust.
I strongly suggest you find ways to help the devs, find anything and everything you can with this next build and report it.
What we do in the coming weeks will shape the game for years to come, work hard my fellow Dusters and lets make a great game.
