Just finish the New blog todate and it out to take a look at. You can find it at http://dustoffnews.blogspot.com/2012/09/dust-514-faction-warfare.html#more
take a read and post your Faction Warfare thoughts here.
Will CEOs choose a side for their Corp? Will members push them if not? Will your Corp join the side that offers the most in Contracts? or Will you just chill in Hi Sec?
Here Is Some IRC INFO that was not allowed to be posted due to NDA:
ZionShad: Most planets in low sec FW are player own at this poiint so is it safe to say DUST mercs could own them as well ZionShad: or to say there would be no NPC contracts for them [CCP]Nullarbor: nobody owns planets at the moment [CCP]Nullarbor: FW has sov in systems [CCP]Nullarbor: planet ownership will be a new seperate thing [CCP]Nullarbor: once we turn on the new FW + dust mechanic, it won't be specifically dust corps or mercs owning them. [CCP]Nullarbor: it will be the miltias taking ownership
I stated the info given to me from a FW Aillance CEO here was the answer to that.
[CCP]Nullarbor: oh they mean they have POCO's at the planet [CCP]Nullarbor: which is slightly different [CCP]Nullarbor: they control the taxing of goods being imported / exported from the planet
So we as Merc wont be able to own Planets in FW but we could still take player contracts to take them over for players if they choose

militas are non military personell in new eden, thus anyone that isnt army or navy units, IE us. We're currenlty in 'rookie' corporations atm and can join the milita corp, also corps can pledge loyalty to the miltia corp and enroll thier entire corp in provided they havent pissed that faction off... yet.
FW planets will never be owned by players but you can fight for the empires to help them take over those planets.
This is what you can call, Null warfare light. MCCs and Barges and buildings isk and items are npc provided generated.
When full conquest mode launches however you will have to field your own MCCs, null and the contract payouts.
You can see where null warfare gets prohibitively more expnesive than FW. money doesnt magically appear in null. |

Just make sure that any info you want to post can be found elsewhere on the internet. Kind of like citing your information. Think of the DUST forums as a black hole... |

Questions (speculation welcome as long as it's noted as such):
1. If my Dust merc is Gallente, can I join, say, the Amarr faction and fight for them or do I need an Amarr merc?
2. If I'm in a corp, for the moment let's just say it's ZionTCD (working with Gallente apparently) for the sake of argument, will I only be allowed to accept any contracts that help the Gallente war effort?
3. If ZionTCD does, in fact, decide to help Gallente, will the corporation as a whole only be allowed to accept contracts that help the Gallente war effort? |

You can be any race and join any Empire to fight for.
2. If I'm in a corp, for the moment let's just say it's ZionTCD (working with Gallente apparently) for the sake of argument, will I only be allowed to accept any contracts that help the Gallente war effort?
Only if they are FW related. If its Player own Planets then that is different thing and wont be effected
3. If ZionTCD does, in fact, decide to help Gallente, will the corporation as a whole only be allowed to accept contracts that help the Gallente war effort?
Yes |

As a Minmatar I am content to fight for the Gallante. We Matari interpret 'freedom' a little differently. Freedom is when all who would enslave you lie dead under your feet. Or are too fearful of the fight to come close enough to die.
I look forward to an immortal lifetime of grinding Amarrian skulls into the dust, and pissing on the corpses of their Caldari dogs. |

I'd like to point out that picking sides is not mandatory. A corp can accept contracts to fight for Gallente one day and Amarr the next. |

+1 to that bro.
TBH, I've got no real loyalties at this point, to a corp or to any particular race. My character is Gallente, but only because I didn't like the sound of the Amarr (religious zealotry isn't my thing), the Minmatar sounded more primitive tech wise and I couldn't really decided between the other two. On reflection though, slavery is never a good thing, so anyone who sides with people who enslave others probably aren't so great themselves, so that's reason enough to dislike the Caldari.
And as for "freedom" does anybody in this universe really have that? In the Caldari you're immediately part of a corporation and if you lose your job, you're basically ******, in the Amarr it's worship this and worship that, or be labelled a heretic and in the Minmatar you're more likely to be outright enslaved anyway. Gallente does a better job on freedom really, even if things aren't perfect there. |

As a eve player and a dust player I currently have a standing with the republic navy in eve (minmitar 7.15) if a corp my friends are in side with a faction that fights minmitar will I lose that standing at all by assisting the dusters. |

I can't see that happening Korey, as your Dust and Eve characters are both separate entities
EDIT. Misread that at first. I don't play Eve but my guess is yes it would negatively affect your standing if you helped out with your Eve char |

More IRC goodness for you Zion, originally copied by Tritan member Patches the Hyena to our private forums...
Quote: Hey just found out a detail about Faction Warfare. CCP Nularbor is in IRC talking about it and he said:
(@[CCP]Nullarbor) nor do you have to align to a particular faction
(@[CCP]Nullarbor) We don't have to pick a side. We are mercs and just fullfill contracts. We are simple guns for hire with no loyalties.
(@[CCP]Nullarbor) We can choose to only fight for one side or we can just take any contracts we want.
(@[CCP]Nullarbor) if your corp wants to push a particular FW side, then the dust mercs can do that
(@[CCP]Nullarbor) you won't be disadvantaged for only fighting for one side
(@[CCP]Nullarbor) at that point, its then just politics
(@[CCP]Nullarbor) which is awesome
(@[CCP]Nullarbor) so you have the choice
(@[CCP]Nullarbor) you can request a contract for a certain price + time + faction and it will make you offers
(@[CCP]Nullarbor) then you can pick
(@[CCP]Nullarbor) if you don't like the offers you can keep refreshing actually
(@[CCP]Nullarbor) no you get to see the opponent dust corp
(@[CCP]Nullarbor) no alliances in dust yet
(@[CCP]Nullarbor) although the EVE corp can be in an alliance
So a picture is coming together here. With other statements I haven't quoted Nullarbor is describing a system where we take contracts and put up collateral. We earn a lot if we win for our side but lose the collateral if we fail. The collateral will be ISK, it goes into escrow after we accept the contract. Then we get it back + our reward if we win. This collateral comes out of the corporation wallet.
He also said there is no corp tax yet in Dust so members have to donate to the corp to fund it, no automatic mechanism like EVE.
So we can accept contracts to attack or defend on any militia's behalf. Unless we decide to play politics and fight for one side.
He also just mentioned corp wallet is only for collateral at this time. It can't be given out to Mercs.
